I am ready to experience this. After watching, it was okay. Some ideas were good but I feel the script was sort of lazy. The ending was a bit better than expected but still didn't hit as good as episode 6. I am excited to watch Andor with you guys. I liked season 1 when I watched it.

Before this movie came out there were reddit leaks about the plot, and they were so unbelievably stupid I decided they could not be real. Then about five minutes in I realised they were and just laughed my way through it, and I have to say this is the first time in my experience multiple people got up and left the cinema before the end credits rolled.

I hope you can check out the animated SWTCW series at some point in the future. There are a lot of episodes and story arcs that are skipped over, but you guys have a true appreciation for the lore and always seem to have fun no matter what! Great job

Obviously this script is awful, everyone can see that. The issue here is that Disney tried to appealed to a section of the fanbase that by definition cannot be appealed with anything. And in doing so they alienated not even the other fans but also literally everyone. They should have committed to what they were doing, lots of people liked The Last Jedi, i personality loved it, but the people that hated it are pretty loud so Disney got cold feet and scraped everything last minute. A coward move which was never gonna work because they decided to listen to people that would have never been happy with whatever they would come up with anyway.

so many terrible scenes throughout this movie. They brought back palpatine and gave absolutely no explanation. totally disrespected anakin’s character making rey the actual chosen one. had a ship jump to hyperspace and destroy a star destroyer which has never happened before and you’d think if this was a thing it would’ve been used a million times during the wars. and everything about the rey skywalker scene is just terrible and cheesy and is probably the second worst scene in the whole franchise to most fans.

I'd like to make a suggestion. I don't know how you'll look back on these sequels with clarity and hindsight, but for a better understanding of why so many of us are so incredibly disappointed by this trilogy, I think the once canon heir to the empire book trilogy is a far more fleshed out sequel trilogy that makes sense. Disney de-canonised it now obviously but for many of us it is the true sequel trilogy. It is beggars belief that they didn't attempt to adapt that story in some way

A lot of things were glazed over and were further explained in deleted scenes/books. Things like Palpatine’s son being a failed clone of himself and the fact he’s been experimenting with cloning himself even before his death would have made the movie so much better. Palpatine had already started the sith cult on Exegol between episodes 5 and 6. Jannah, the girl with Finn that talked to Lando at the end is supposed to be Lando’s daughter who was taken by the empire, which caused him to go in the desert and become a hermit. Finn’s thing he wanted to tell Rey is apparently that he thinks he’s force sensitive. If they would have added these explanations that would have taken a couple of minutes tops I think this movie would have been so much more cohesive and better overall.

Truly some of the best star wars content in some of those episodes and arcs, and the visual quality and maturity improves over time drastically. I've been making overtures of for this to hopefully come in some form eventually, as I agree a lot of stuff can be skipped fine and focus on the important and good arca which have had watch guides for years and reactors have done it previously.

I really enjoyed the grim dark feel of the Sith and Exegol. I need more of that in Star Wars. All the Star Wars movies make me groan with recycled challenges, antagonists and plots but I still love it. Andor is peak; really looking forward to it!

FYI, Vader can indeed pull a ship down to the ground. and we also saw Vader throw his lightsaber at Luke in the 6th movie. Also FYI, Vader can not shoot lightning because he has no limbs to conduct the lightning, his suit is also very vulnerable to lightning, that is how Palpatine was able to control Vader. ANOTHER FYI, Vaders force ability was severely cut off with the suit and he was still that powerful, if Anakin was able to master the force to his full potential, he would have been the most powerful being to have ever existed or exist.

Hey guys, to add context to why the writing seemed off is because they had different directors who wanted to to take the movies in different directions. Also a lot of political bs came into play during the filming. Some holes were due to that, also there were moments with Finn that made no sense due to racial issues in China, Finn was meant to play a bigger role and be force sensitive and eventually become a Jedi just like Rey, but China didn't like the idea of a black character taking a front position so the rewrote the character in the middle to appease China, even removing Finn from posters because it upset China and said they wouldn't allow the film to be seen there unless changes were made. It was absolute chaos during the filming of these movies. There are more reasons but those were the one right off the top of my head, plus I'm at work and can't expound in the rest.

To add there were also issues of Finn and the Asian girl being a couple which is why the change in their relationship from the 2nd and 3rd film.

I honestly really dislike these movies, but every one of them gives me one moment of joy, even if that part is poorly written. In this one its the all the jedi scene, possibly pandering to me with the jedi voice actors. I do always get kind of hyped seeing that scene. The only character that got a decent arc was Ben solo in this movie. My favorite part was seeing how even Ben’s fighting style was different from Kylo ren, faster more unpredictable. Adam driver just did an amazing job portraying “Ben” at the end and he literally only said “Ow” and still it was an awesome portrayal.

Honestly, I can't conceive of where they could have gone from The Last Jedi that would have been satisfying. There was no Kevin Feige type overseeing any kind of internal consistency in these movies. Even people who liked TLJ (Who I assume blocked out the whole Canto Bight travesty) I don't think were ever going to be satisfied with how this finished.

During exile Palpatine tried to clone out his son so he can use his body as his new body to revive, however Rey's cloned parents was not force sensitive at all, so Palpatine tried to kill them and Reys parents had Rey which she is very strong in the force

He didn't stop the Millenium Falcon from leaving Hoth and that was much closer and travelling at far less speed than the ship Rey was holding on to. Yoda lifted Luke's X-wing but thats much smaller, stationary and much much closer, plus it took Yoda a fair time to do it, it was not a quick thing to do. The fact is as the Franchise has gone on there has been a clear one-upsmanship with regards to the force where each new film or sow has tp have bigger and better superpowers, to the point the force and force users have god like powers, Rey stopping a ship that far away travelling at speed, Palpatine force lighting taking down a whole host of ships in the distance. Bigger is not always better, when the jedi become tht powerful tehn you need a constant stream of force users to be their adversaries otherwise its like a human foot vs an ant situation. In ROTJ I believe that Boba Fett a non foce user was somewhat of a threat to Luke. Jedis powers shouldnt be kept in check creatiely otherwise you just losestakes and jedi/sith/force users just become less interesting.

I think it’s really cool that you’re going to watch Andor soon! I would also highly recommend The Mandalorian. The series came out after Episode IX and brought Star Wars back to life, helping to get people interested in Star Wars who had never engaged with it before. I would also highly recommend the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008–2014, 2020). Although the series is aimed at children, there are quite a few episodes that expand the Star Wars universe in really interesting ways and answer many of your questions (for example, Maul’s return in Solo). I or someone else could put together a list of episodes that are especially worthwhile.

This movie reminds me of the final season of Game of Thrones... I'm totally on board with where all the characters ended up, but the writing to get there was rushed and clunky. You need to use your imagination to fill in all the blanks. That said, Adam Driver was awesome, as usual.

It was the same explanation they used in the formerly canonical novels 20 years earlier. Cloning, dark magic. Its weird people were so pissed when Disney came in and made the novels non canon, then people get mad when they reuse the same plot from the novels that everyone loved. Maybe you just don't like Star Wars, and that's ok.

I mean nobody know what would've been and yeah there's no Kevin Feige figure here but I don't think you would need it if they simply just give episode 9 to Rian again. Having the same director would've make sure there was consistency throughout. I do feel it would've been more satisfying because every character would have been past their character growing arc they go through in the last jedi. Which seems to be the biggest problem everyone has with that movie. This would mean a Luke that is fully committed to the force once again, a Poe that has learnt how to lead, and a Rey and Kylo that are way more connected to each other. I think if it was treated with the depth and care and attention to detail that Rian took with episode 8 but only now with the characters in a better place, it would have been really good.

ah man feel like I have a very good idea of what you guys like and dont like about star wars now as my guesses were right about the way I thought you guys would react to all the scenes in these last 3 movies. Hope you guys will watch the clone wars animated series someday cause I know its right up your street. The amount of exploration that series goes into for anakin with critical parts of his character arc that the movies dont even touch on is crazy good, along with obi and alot of other characters like yoda (and other special characters but thats for you to find out :P). After seeing the movies the anime hits perfectly. Especially the final episodes

I haven’t watched the reaction because I don’t want to be outright negative because someone will spawn out of nowhere and try to argue. There were a couple redeeming elements here. But not really. This is the only movie besides mandalorian I didn’t see in theaters. And if last Jedi hadn’t released during a blizzard, I would have walked home 4 miles from the theater. It’s hard to say which one was worse. TLJ was abject trash, but 9 at least tried to steal the plot of KOTOR a little.

I am big fan of Star Wars probably last 30-40 years and dont have big problem with new trilogy. Of course i dont like some stuff inside this movie, but whole trilogy is for me something 8/10*. Prequel trilogy is for me 9/10* and original is for me 10/10*. I like of course all other Star Wars series included Mandalorina, Andor, Ashoka, Kenobi, Clone wars etc.

Reylo haters will hate this, but the reality is that their relationship was the best part of this trilogy. It is the only thing that was in anyway unique or compelling about these damn movies haha They should have kept him alive and had him continue to redeem himself and grow his relationship with Rey

Episode IX is a funny one because there is a lot of rumoured deleted scenes (that were never released) as well as a crap ton of reshoots. The production of this one was VERY topsy turvy and it results in it being badly paced with short cuts to explain things. I remember reading that a couple of weeks before it was released in theatres, JJ Abrams and the editing team were STILL procrastinating what to include and not include in the final cut.
