The 3 original movies play it more straight n can be scarier all 3 work as a zombie cinematic trilogy night of living dead 1968, dawn of the dead 1978 and Day of the Dead 1985 all 3 different character movies but same world n get more fuller world than this remake did

Travis Gray

This remake was written by James Gunn and directed by Zack Snyder

Sherry Bandito

You guys might enjoy the 1978 Dawn of the Dead -- it's set in a '70s-style mall, basically the same as the remake, but much trippier and less goofy (not a "fast zombie" movie). "28 Days Later" started the "fast zombie" genre when it came out... But yeah, I agree with Spartan that I like zombie stories that take themselves more seriously, are more gritty and realistic, and give us nice story/character arcs, etc. That's why I love TWD so much. It's absolute peak when it comes to the best of the zombie genre: horror, real world survival, actual drama, and characters that have complicated emotional arcs.

I highly recommend that you watch the original George A. Romero films from Night of the Living Dead up to at least Land of the Dead. Romero was the father of the modern day zombie. This remake was from a screenplay written by James Gunn and it was Zack Snyder's directorial debut, long before those names were big, and it kind of sparked my love of zombies.

I'd love to see them start with Night of the Living Dead and work their way up to Land of the Dead from the Romero films.
