Look i miss Carl as a character but I couldn't stand Chandlers acting as him. I litterally dont miss not seeing him in the show even if I did miss the character. Henry's actor is 10 times better at acting than Chandler was in later seasons

I hated the Alpha arc at first but with hindsight and upon many rewatches, I noticed I was in the same mindset of comparison. Comparison is the thief of joy though. Hope yall can adapt and just let the show cook. If everything is going to be compared to Negan from here on out, then it will just ruin yall experience. I really mean that in the nicest way. If someone still doesn't like it for what it is , then they don't like it but far too many people just compare everything in the rest of series in comparison to the High they felt in s7e1. In that same breath, comparing any character death going forward and the way they die to, again, s7e1. Anyways love and peace. I'm here either way 🤷‍♀️. 🥂

Way better than the breathy lines Chandler was delivering. Any word that had a T at the end was also waaaaay over done. He just became unbearable for me later in the show.

finally reactors that dont fall for the season 9 glaze. This season goofy ashell lol. Corny dialogue, corny character writing. The only good change is the cinematography and the music.

carl was a bs character at the end...I only wanna kill one guy...just give me negan...then without really much development....dad, just let there be a future for everyone, including negan. Forget how that makes maggie feel. season 8 had a lot of weird writing and character assasination.

It's been 6 years, I don't think they really have a lot of functioning guns and ammo anymore so they can't just wipe them all out. No presence from Samantha Morton is crazy haha. She's not Negan, but she's a very different, more animalistic kind of evil. I think her group is pretty creepy.

The problem is that we as an audience had an 8-season connection with Carl. I like Henry, but the history isn't as deep and rich. He was clearly given storylines that were meant for Carl.

I feel like Spartan doesn't realize how scarce ammo has become at this point. "Wheeling out the AK-47s" isn't really a thing anymore, post-timeskip. It's almost all melee or bow and arrow.

negan was like a comedy villain...yea he was intimidating because he had ammo and weaponry at the time...but that becomes limited and scarce later on. you put negan in the woods and alpha....and i'm alone...yea, alpha creeps me out way more.

I think there is one BIG thing you need to understand to better appreciate the threat. They can't simply mow them down with guns. Our group used a ton of ammo in the Negan war. 6 years have passed, and there's even less ammo. This storyline is essentially MEDIEVAL. Things like bows, knives, and more hand-to-hand combat. That is a huge equalizer with the Whisperers, except they have walkers to their advantage as well. Spartan, please be patient with the story and have an open mind. We promise there is some crazy stuff coming, and I think you might change your mind on Alpha. I'm not saying she's Negan, but she IS a threat. You've literally just met her for half an episode. There will be more with her. :)

I'm very interested to see what they think at the end of Season 9. I understand some of their points, but you also have to let the story flesh out. I hope they warm up to the Whisperer arc because I love it, and I know many others do too

its more so following after a threat like negan, which genuinely felt like the most dangerous threat so far, that from what we've seen initially Alpha feels like more a S2/3 villain. that being said we didnt know that gun resources were low we thought we still had full fire power which changes our battle capabilities

Totally agree. I think they’ll hopefully come to accept TWD won’t ever be like it was for the earlier seasons and my hope is they’ll warp up to new characters and bigger storylines for others

I mean corny dialogue has been an issue since like Season 4 tbh. And honestly the show has never had the greatest dialogue outside of specific scenes and moments.

Samantha Morton, who plays Alpha, has two Academy Award nominations, a Golden Globe Award, and a BAFTA Fellowship. She brings all that craft and experience to this character, who could otherwise be a goofy, cringey cartoon. She'll be worth your time, you just wait. :)

I definitely don’t like how they handled carls character, and I also love Henry as well, but to act like Henry’s actor did any better of a job than carls is completely disingenuous lol

It is her in The Odyssey. Many were surprised to see her being so scary in that, but Walking Dead fans who know her as creepy Alpha were not shocked at all!

I just wanna say that I like season 9, and I really like the whisperers as a threat, but it just does not hit the same without Rick or Carl. For me, losing both of those makes any threat seem lesser because I don't really care all that much about anyone else. Sure I love Daryl and Carol, I am interested in Negan more than any other character, but I cannot help but think even in the best episodes of season 9- "God this would be so much better if Rick was here", or "Imagine the development this could have given Carl". The best the show has to offer from here on out will always have those asterisks for me, even though story wise I think season 9 is probably stronger than 7x9-8x16 overall. Does anyone else feel similar?
