AHHH MY SHOW IS ON

Tom

delete this......

To be fair! The spin off for Rick is only 6 episodes!

the continent

Andrew Lincoln wanted to go spend more time with his family, that's what I remember from when he left the show at the time when they were doing the press run for this season.

Lakey29

Yeah well now you know alpha is a massive threat and is if not the biggest threat the group has faced so far

Lakey29

Mods can’t delete these comment you gimp

Tom

This episode is soooo peak. The tension throughout the whole fair is fantastic, because you know in the walking dead, if it's ever happy, it's not happy for long. You also knew Alpha was aware of the fair and where the Kingdom was, so it was essentially a ticking time bomb. I am also so glad we finally got to see the hoard and the reason why Alpha is so confident. She may not have the overall manpower or strength, but all they have to do is guide that hoard to Hilltop, Alexandria or the Kingdom and they're done for. Also just to clarify some of those who died that I think you didn't pick up on. The third guy was DJ, who was formerly with the saviors. He came into the show in season 8 and has been with Rick's group since the start of season 9. The red head is Frankie, who was one of Negan's wives. Remember when Eugene was showing her how to make the gas balloons and they asked him to make a pill to kill Negan. Not main characters, but still two characters who have been with us for a couple of seasons. Bring on the main part of the whisperer arc!

Tom

What a weird thing to say. Just delete it….

Ivan Rasmussen

Just make it easy and do the right thing.

Ivan Rasmussen

I think I was a lot like you when Season 9 came out, and it took until this episode to really grasp the threat. Upon rewatches, I've liked this season more, but I'm with you, it's still not my favorite by any means. This episode was pretty awesome though and a massive moment in the comics as well

Bill B.

I probably would have felt gut punched about Rick leaving too if AMC didn’t make sure to advertise the hell out of “and next week, Rick’s last episode…” over and over and over again.

Alan Murphy

As i said before you have to remember we that watched it at the time knew Rick was leaving we even knew what episode. I always wondered what it would have been like not to know, I think i would have been same as you two!! Pissed lol I also now realize why they let us know to give us hope even within a few months of Rick leaving they were dragging us back in telling us they had planned for 3 movies it was all to keep us hanging on BUT dont worry I think you will like how the story goes and there are plenty of big episodes to COME!!! so stay in there I love watching it again through your eyes. One more thing, we also knew the PIKE episode you just watched was coming up for months we just didnt know who they killed. It was in comic (Which i didnt read) so they had to do it, but apparently in Comic Ezikiel was killed not sure what you would have thought of that!!! I think for the series it was better he didnt.

George

Andrew Lincoln (Rick) actually considered leaving a season before, but was not ready. He hardly got to spend anytime with his family in England, so it does make sense. The spinoff, when you get to it, won’t disappoint.

DO NOT READ THESE COMMENTS SOMEONES POSTING MAJOR SPOILERS !!!!

Totally understand the frustration with the Rick and Maggie thing. I think season 9 is excellent but it definitely blows that they both left so abruptly, and there is a part of me that wishes Rick got a proper death instead. With that said, holy shit this episode blew my mind when I first saw it. Love the nonlinear storytelling and how it was all done. I've also questioned how Alpha managed to get so many people from the Kingdom. If I had to guess, I'd say that she had help. Other whisperers may have come in posing as members of another community.

Meredith

It took me until this episode when i first watched this season to truly recognize the whisperers as a big threat, even with the understanding of the deep systemic manipulation their group was under. I was most gut punched by Enid... that was really sad, and then Henry (Temu Carl xD). Carol isn't the type of personality to let the community in on her true feelings, she puts on a mask, Ezekiel, too, so it wasn't too much of a shock seeing them put on a face for Syds speech. I do feel like Syds speech was a little underwhelming, not with the story he told but in his ability to be compelling. And also still feeling the wounds from Syd being around after Carl died. He carries this energy of somebody is going to get hurt as long as I am around. I loved your reactions this episode, and resonate with the "what are they doing to us", you both expressed at the beginning when they killed the couple who were having their anniversary at Hilltop. The show keeps you in an addictive state of hyper-vigilance and we just keep coming back for more abuse! I always wished Daryl would've shoved alpha off that cliff.

Christopher

To be fair, neither Rick or Maggie leaving the show was the writers fault. Andrew Lincoln was ready to be done and wanted to go back home to be with family since filming pulled away from home too much. Lauren Cohan left because she was cast as the lead in a different television show.

Christopher Patterson

Are you guys interested in the other walking dead spin off shows or were you only planning to watch the main show?

Bill B.

Seeing Enid’s head broke me, she was low key one of my favorites and was really coming into her own this season. I’ve got to give props to the writers/director for how they did the reveals of the heads on spikes. This scene is straight out of the comics, except the lineup of heads there was almost completely different. So if you read the comics, you know who dies there, but you also know the show and comics are a lot different, so the reveal of the heads one by one was just masterfully done. And you know it works also for those who haven’t read the comics, I never thought Pudgey would blank on the name of her TWD boyfriend Al 😄

Bill B.

Yeah, he was spending like 8 or 9 months of every year in the US while his kids were growing up in England. Can’t fault the man for choosing his family over career.

Bill B.

Yeah I think she had to have help too. And how she or they got in and out of the walls… suspension of disbelief. Just like the last episode of season 7, when Ezekiel and Shiva and kingdom people on HORSEBACK get into a walled Alexandria to save the day. I always laughed at the idea of horses climbing up those support beams 😄

Mark Laniel

because of the comics i was really worried for ezekiel this episode

Bill B.

I remember watching Rick’s last episode, fully expecting him to be dead by the end, and being thrilled that he was still alive!! And whatever sadness I felt about him leaving, I’d known about it for like a month. So I was pleasantly surprised in that episode that we got the time skip and got to see Judith aged up, little asskicker living up to her name!

Mark Laniel

well shiva is a tiger..very good jumpers and climbers...for her, the biggest suspension of disbelief would be her losing her life to some slow rotting walkers

Bill B.

And they’re actually really really really good!!!!!!

James Waters

Upon Andrew Lincoln saying he wanted to leave, they had planned for Rick to be killed off at the end of season 8, with the flash forwards of him under the tree basically being the foreshadowing for that, but Andrew Lincoln said that when he was backstage at a comic con, he decided to do a few more episodes as he wasn't ready to leave. Even though it was his choice, I am still frustrated for a couple reasons. Firstly, if they knew he wanted to leave, that is another reason to definitely not kill off Carl. What actually was the point. The other reason it's frustrating is because in a world where AMC didn't get greedy and try to milk the IP, we could have had seasons with less episodes, less dragged out, less unnecessary filler, and maybe the whole show could've been 8 or 9 seasons in total, and Andrew Lincoln would have seen it to the end.

Josh M

Yeah I don't even try to rationalize a lot of the writing in S7/8 lmaoo.

Lord Stirling

The Rick and Maggie thing you were told isn’t exactly accurate! Rick, true. Maggie, doesn’t return in S9, at least…

Lord Stirling

I know the Rick thing is upsetting. I was suuuuper pissed, too. I even stopped watching after a while. And for years. But I recently got inspired to finish the series, after randomly seeing you two react to S7Ep1, and I’m really glad I did. It’s still good, even without Rick! Thanks, by the way, for getting my interested in TWD again. You guys being devastated by Lucille reinvigorated my TWD fanship 😂

Lord Stirling

Carl got killed off bc the actor’s dad was causing a lot of issues. Major spoilers linked to his zombie tours and stuff, among other things. At least that’s what we were hearing at the conventions

Lord Stirling

Love Negan in the show but comic Negan is SO MUCH MORE HARDCORE!!!!! The show version got nerfed a bit because they couldn’t be constantly dropping F-bombs on AMC 😂😂

James Waters

Yes I have heard that may be a factor, but from what I have read about Scott Gimple defending it as a narrative decision and the actor not expecting it, even going so far as to buy a house in Gerogia, I don't really buy that it was the sole reason. Whatever the primary reason was, it all points to avoidable incompetence in my humble opinion

James Waters

Fun to talk about though lol

Hanno

Guys they're called the Whisperers

Hanno

Spartan saying "terms without sacrifice" moments before we see the heads made me laugh so hard 🤣 🤣🤣

Ella

Alpha: " Tell Them!"

Spaz 'n' Megz

your wrong about Maggie! She comes back

Lee Shafer

The issues didn't start til after they killed his son off on the series after he had signed a 3 year contract

Natalie-Anne

They are peak!! Especially that first episode

Blizard

You guys have been misinformed. Both will come back. One for longer than the other, but both do come back.

Morgan.07

Watch the spin-offs afterwards

Mama Browsss

I've watched all the spin offs, and Rick's is, by far in my opinion, the best. If I could only watch one, it would be that one. For me, the other spin offs don't really matter, I need to see how Rick's story ends.

Mama Browsss

All the ads about his last episode pissed me off! I even remember, in the episode before his last, as soon as it ended they had the ad like 'tune in next week for Rick's last episode'. I mean, most people already knew because of all the promoting they did for it, but still. Totally spoiled it. BUT.. they gave us his spin off so that kind of makes up for it.

Alan Murphy

Alas, the grass was not greener for Maggie on the other side the show flopped big time lol

Bill B.

I’m pretty sure they did it on purpose, to get everyone ready. If the network decides to let the audience know it’s the main star’s last show, I don’t consider that a spoiler. If they had told us how he goes out, whether he lives or dies, that’s a different story. I’m pretty sure they did not want the fanbase to be sitting around for a season or more wondering every week “is this when Rick comes back?”

Cinemaslave

The actress that plays Maggie took a hiatus from the show but does eventually come back. She’s not gone forever.

Bill B.

Comic fans knew that, but I’m pretty sure this is the first episode where the name “the Whisperers” was actually said.

Victoria E (vickster5001)

This episode is great and it's fun to see you shocked as I know on airing people were disappointed there weren't more big names in the pike line-up! Daryl holding Carol as they find Henry in the same way he did when they found Sophia is just so sad. I'm glad Spartan and Pudgey got to enjoy the early s9 without knowing about Rick as it ruined those eps for me as everything was tainted with sadness, but I'm glad they now know he doesn't return, so they stop waiting for it. I think they might have had a different view of s9 post Rick if they'd known that.

Victoria E (vickster5001)

Agreed. It was so annoying that we knew before s9 even aired. It taints those happy moments of Rick/Michonne/Judith in the early eps of the season too, as you couldn't enjoy them.

Marcus Carter

You've been lied to. Maggie does return!!!!! Don't know who told you that. Rick doesn't though.

Marcus Carter

Maggie does return, don't know why someone said that.

Marcus Carter

Rick on a spin off, Maggie comes back though.

Zwopt

delete!!!! what is wrong with you idiots

Blizard

Yes, but he also comes back in the regular series though :p

Zach Jepsen

Spartan's face when he realizes just how big Alpha's horde of "guardians" is... that was his moment of, ok I see what you mean by threat😅🤣 Tbf, I don't think thats even all of them...

Nathan Jasper

I understand the criticism of wanting the wrap-up for Rick in the flagship show but that's also why these shows are marketed as The Walking Dead Universe. They're all intertwined and interchangeable. One show is only part of the story because it's only one part of the world. All the sequel series are necessary too, honestly.

Zac

Not sure if the writers did it deliberately but i remember a while ago someone pointed out the first initials of names on the pikes are an anagram of art of death.

Bmac Tattoo

Damnnnnn.... you shouldn't know all of that ahead of time.
