Very curious to see how you guys will vibe with this one! Elite movie for sure tho, Josh Brolin is one of my favorite actors he’s very underrated IMO. Obligatory please watch 1917 😂😭😅

Jamie Neill

Brilliant movie & performance. I highly recommend ‘Tombstone’ when you want another western. Very reaction worthy, amazing cast, even Kurt Russell thinks ‘name a western that’s more quotable’…& one of the best acting chops you’ll find. Spartan will really vibe with a certain character.

Steve NYC

I'm also curious to see how you guys react to a film in which you are anticipating a showdown...that never occurs

james .

javier bardem one of my favourite actors

james .

Also, Anton (chigur) doesn’t even exist, it’s just a character made up by the sheriff so he has a "bad guy" that he can chase (it’s easier to go after a person than to go after the evil nature of the world). That’s why in the first standoff between anton and the sheriff, when he opens the door, he finds no-one

Phil

Based on this reaction Spartan has to see American Psycho. I won't get into why. Hopefully you haven't seen it already. It has Christian Bale which I think you'll like.

Kyle Rawson

Yessssssss can’t wait to get home. In my top 4 on my letterbox

Pablo

We need to get them into more Coen Brothers movies they are some of the greatest filmmakers of all time. Specially as writers.

Jonathan

The Big Lebowski for sure, if they haven't seen it already

PNWKyle

Such a favorite. Just saw an interview with Barry Corbin who plays the old man with the cats that the Sheriff visits near the end. He said he was sent the script and reading it he thought he wouldn't want to do the movie because it was too violent ... but then he got to the scene he has with Tommy Lee Jones and before even finishing the script he called his agent and said "Get me that role, hell, that scene is the whole movie!"

EnVy316LeGeNd

i like this movie but yea the ending pisses me off lol or at least when Brolin died

Michael

Love the characters/actors and the story up to the last 1/4 of the movie then it just loses me every time.

Pablo

I knew Spartan would not be able to know what to do with himself for the last like 40 minutes lol

Pablo

Absolute banger, bold ass screenplay

Christopher

I knew this movie would challenge Spartan’s brain a little too much lol Also, Anton checking his shoes when leaving the house, Carla Jean is no more.

Christopher

This is just a popular fan theory and has no confirmed proof. While Anton is a metaphor for an unstoppable, amoral force of fate, chaos, and the changing modern world, there is no confirmation that he is not a living breathing character in the story.

Christopher

The movie is meant to represent existential meditation on fate, violence, and the painful passage of time. The story of an aged man trying to stay relevant in a world that no longer values him. Everything in life passes everyone by. The Sheriff is the real main character as a bystander to the events of the movie, helpless to be of any real value to the plot. He’s a traditional officer raised on codes of decency who realizes the world has grown ruthlessly chaotic, leaving him obsolete.

PIG

Holy shit. I know Spartan likes it when the good guys win.. but this is also such a badass movie. Like you all, I’m curious what they will both think.

TokyoLopez

it’s kinda weird when i can predict both of your reactions to this movie 🤣 on the plus side there’s a bunch of deep dives on youtube about this film

Curtis

The missing floor thing was probably just talking about the elevator not having a button for a 13th floor. Some buildings skip it because of superstition they just rename floor 13 to floor 14.

Tom Riddle

The story would be the same if he didn’t go back to give the guy water, the tracker was still in the money he still would’ve gotten killed.

Hank Scorpio

Tbf, if I had any idea you guys were watching this I would've immediately said something about he car accident scene near the end, its literally the first scene I thought about when I saw the notification today (knowing Pudgey's history) I don't even have car accident PTSD (knock on wood) and that scene still made me jump when I first watched this. The only car accident scene that tops it (at least from stuff I've seen) is Kim's car accident in Better Call Saul.

Biberius Caldius Mero

Sorry, forgot about Pudgey's car accident PTSD and the car accident in the movie. I hope she's feeling alright! This is a movie by the brothers Ethan and Joel Coen. I personally love their movies, but they are an acquired taste. This one might be a little bit different from their usual style (less humour perhaps?) because it's an adaptation of a novel by Cormac McCarthy. You don't realise it on first watch, but there's next to no music or soundtrack in this movie, yet it's super tense. Pudgey's right, by the way: the sheriff (Ed Tom Bell) is the main character. Also, the Mexican gang killed Llewelyn, but Chigurh later came to the crime scene and took the money. The sheriff notices the lattice (if that's the right word?) and the screws from the vent on the floor with a coin. Chigurh knows that Llewelyn hid the money in the vent in the previous motel, so he knows where to look. I'm not completely sure what to make of Chigurh's principles, but I guess he considers himself a force of nature that follows some sort of predestined path or rule. Carla Jean deflates his self-image by saying, no, it's just you, you make these decisions, so he killed her. That's indicated by him checking his shoes for blood like you said. Then he randomly gets in the accident that's not even his fault, as you noticed, showing he's not above the random chaos of it all, even though he fancies himself an agent of it. The sheriff is despairing at all the brutality around him throughout and yearning for some idealised, nostalgic version of the olds days and for some warmth and security (his father in the dream). But what's central is the conversation towards the end with Ellis, the older lawman in the wheelchair. Ellis tells him that his problems aren't new. It's no country for old men and it never has been. Thinking otherwise is vanity. (Cormac McCarthy has also written novels set in earlier times that are even more brutal.)

Joey Moughan

Absolute banger. You were the one that recommended this over on FRR right?

Richiep

such an overrated movie

Garrett Serbin

Nobody with a brain would make this claim... Its genius lvl writing & amazing acting with a story that keeps you guessing & on the edge of you're seat... Dont hate the movie for being smarter than you!!

Garrett Serbin

This is one of those movies that requires a re-watch for most ppl... Its a movie that expects its audience to be locked in and take away meaning from EVERY action or EVERY line of dialogue. Not a single wasted moment in the while movie.

Richiep

why do people get so protective over a movie where you feel the need to insult lol, that is not a sign of high intelligence my friend. I just feel the movie tries a little too hard to be 'clever' that comes at the expense of the pay off and enjoyment of the viewer. Relax Garry

Alex

Good film, but its overrated. It's not great

PIG

You’re goddamn right, Joey! lol

John Neiberger

I think this is actually a difficult movie to react to because talking during the movie will distract you from important details and conversation.
