Jeff

the skipping and pausing kinda strange

spartanandpudgey

what do you mean? if you're referring ti the editing, this is what pretty much every reactor does in some way to overcome copyright law and operate under fair use. We dont actually pause the show (maybe once or twice for longer discussions), moreso highlight our reaction at points where showing the show isn't necessary and allows us to work within fair use. We also have the uncut reaction which you can sync to your own copy of the show if you prefer which has no cuts.

Jeff

Yeh I understand that every reactor does that in some way. I guess it just felt like there was a fair bit more on this one. Sorta felt a little more de-synchronising than usual is all.

Jared

so pumped you guys are watching this one. this could be the first story that i prefer the adaptation

Julien

Excellent. I haven't even watched the show yet but the buzz is insane and reacting to it would tremendously help the channel, I think/hope. 👍

I'm so glad u guys r watching it with 2 completely different perspectives coz last of us is up there in my top 3 story games with walking dead and uncharted 4 and the uncharted movie imo didnt rlly deliver, but this first ep already kept true to the source material (to the slightest detail of sarah waking up and the shot of the curtain is the loading screen in the game) but with their own original twist which i think is rlly what anyone can ask for with an adaptation

SuddenImpulse

I think it is best we let it be a surprise for them...I know it was well intended but please remove this.

SuddenImpulse

Funnily enough I think they absolutely nailed the Chloe casting in the Uncharted movie, but the rest of the castings....yeah...

I'm not a gamer and I don't like horror at all but I've watched a playthrough of the first Last of Us twice, I liked the story so much - I'm glad you're watching this show.

About this ep: I liked how they took lines from the game (eg. Sarah's drug selling lines if I'm not mistaken), the game creator was involved in the script I believe and it shows, and I loved the performance of everyone, especially Ellie and Sarah. Though I'm also glad if the other eps are going to be shorter - I think in general 45-50mins is a good max length for tv eps where the creators are able to keep everything nice and tight. This was a good ep, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it lagged, but overall I'm happier with shorter eps. In conclusion, I'm very pleased how they started the show!

So hyped! Excellent choice

I love how much effort Spartan is keeping to himself to not spoil Pudgey, you can see the strain in his face sometimes lmao.

Btw, if you are worried about the workload, I think it might be best to put Avatar on pause after you finish book 1 to do Last of Us and then resume with Avatar once the LoU season is over, if you can do only two shows at the moment. (Of course die-hard Avatar fans might disagree, and that's more than fair. I'd just rather have you two not burn out, so I hope you don't take on too much too quickly.)

Every star is aligned for this show to be great. It's HBO, it's being taken as a big HBO production, so they have the means, and they seem to have the right people on it, including the game creator. Also, not taking anything back from their merit, but The Last of Us is one of the most cinematic games ever made, so it's "easier" to just stick to the source material. TLOU is not my favourite game ever but it rates very high in my personal list so I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. Even if I didn't play it before watching the show, I think the first episode was really high level and I felt the emotional moments even more than in the game. It has everything to be a success.

Will never understand the Hollywood obsession with race swapping.

It doesn't take anything away from the story in this case, so why do you care? IPs like Tolkien and the Witcher are a bit different, given that they're supposed to mimic and reflect specific areas of our world. In this case, so what Joel married and had a kid with a black woman instead of a white woman like in the games. Why should that matter at all? The best actress got the part, and that should be the end of it.
