The fact that you guys have gotten so into this show that you get excited watching basically fake history videos is so great. The depth of lore is awesome with a song of ice and fire/game of thrones and its so cool seeing reactors not just love the show but get really into the deeper lore!

I lowered the speed to .75. It helped slow down the guy who was talking to make it easier to listen to. Just a tip for anyone else that may have thought it was a lot of information he put out very quickly.

I think house of dragon was the wrong spin off, should have done one with first man and children meeting and having Brandon the builder working on the wall, training dragon or even the island with wyvern and giant apes and how the people survive that

Wow i’d never seen this video before! This world is so detailed and full of histories, big and small it’s no wonder that man is having a hard time wrapping up the story. Sad but i think i know more about the world history of Westeros and Essos than i do about our world lol

A lot of the alt shift X videos are meant for book readers that know a lot more information earlier than show watchers. I think most, if not all, would contain heavy spoilers. They would be a good watch during the last season.

None of that has interesting characters. HOTD was a good choice. My ideal choice would be the Blackfyre rebellion. My favorite characters are during that time.

@B1G Poppa I very much agree with all you said here. There was an Alt Shift X video on the poll (my personal choice) but it got nowhere close to winning lol. There was this, the Alt Shift X video, the coldplay musical thing, and something else. WhyCreate's vids are definitely not ideal but they do pack a ton of info into pretty short videos compared to where you'd get that info otherwise, so it has its pros and cons. Alt-Shift-X is definitely a bit more ideal for reaction format though due to his speed and such.

They tried that during the period between GoT and HotD wherein they hadn't brought George back on board. They spent 30 million on a pilot with Naomi Watts and then shuttered it.

If you like this stuff I highly recommend you purchase the World of Ice and Fire book. A lot of this info comes from there and is in more detail. Beautiful full and half page colored art and is the best GoT lorebook by far. All approved by George, art included.

There were 4 videos to vote on. This, an Alt Shift X Eastern history video, the musical, and something else I forget. I preferred the Shift X video but it got few votes. This one definitely needs playback speed adjusted, otherwise there are few GoT world videos of this length that cover this much info. Definitely not ideal but the appeal and value is there if one can absorb it.

I like it when people are overwhelmed by how much this world is gigantic and how much it packs. This is the perfect video for it. + They get a better idea of how things went in the past, even if they absorb a small amount of the info. Fun-wise I agree with you.

I'm honestly surprised this video won the poll. Especially over something like the musical. Don't get me wrong, it's interesting and all, and I do greatly enjoy all the Histories & Lore videos for each season, but this really didn't feel like a reaction type of content. It's unfortunate that Alt Shift X didn't win. It's the one of his videos I would recommend at this stage. He is brilliant but the rest probably have too many spoilers/theories. Ah well. People make recommendations without regard to what reactors might actually enjoy. After 5 seasons of lore videos, S&P did not need yet another video explaining the waves of conquests in Westeros.

Lol. It's a common style for videos of both real and fake histories that primarily use a map. Quite a few videos out there of world wars and other great historical events in this style, along w fantasy stuff like LOTR, GOT, etc. I don't think a map is even required. It's just one of the standard YT narrative styles at this point. It works depending on the topic.

@kkoe Yes it was up for a number of days as a Patreon post but it was only for the highest tier as that is the current main extra benefit afforded for that tier. So that tier votes, and then the video is given to Patreon as a whole.

i'm about half way through this and I'm with Spartan. So much information that sometimes my eyes glaze over and I miss some of it. It's SO MUCH. I read the five books, saw all of the seasons, and even I got overwhelmed.

George RR Martin is a massive history buff, and it really shows in his worldbuilding. Very few fantasy authors have gone into as great detail about the history of their world as GRRM has with Essos and Westeros, especially not in such great depth about places that the story doesn’t even ever take you.

I STRONGLY disagree until they’re finished with the initial show watch, because I watched and loved all the Alt Shift X videos BUT he really hinted at some spoilers under the guise of, “it may be that xyz will happen because of abc,” and he’d be right, week after week. It was very, very clear that he was one of the content creators who got his hands on some show spoilers when the leaks happened. Suddenly the show stopped surprising me because all his “theories” were spot on. Awesome content maker, does a great job clarifying the lore, but if you pay attention to what he says, the show won’t shock you. Please, please wait.
