Euron should be renamed Urine i agree

Anonymous

Of all the terrible things that we have seen in this show, Hodor dying still rips me to pieces.

Marimo

Every time you read about Euron in the books you feel uneasy because he's so creepy, magical, and menacing. He's almost an actual demon in the books. So the version of him in the show is very underwhelming and I agree with Spartan that if they wanted to introduce him, it should have been done much sooner.

Mhalefit

It's time to let Stanis go bro haha, you are the only reactor I have ever seen make this much fuss about it lmao

Philippe

This broke the internet back in the days. Rip Hodor

Martin Robertson

This is not a spoiler so don't worry, but the Three Eyed Raven has a name. His name was Brynden.

Marissa

Hiii. Just wondering when the unedited version will be uploaded 😊

Dasypodidae
>>108056104

The unedited version is already available but with the new early release for the top tier it's no longer directly underneath the edited version in the feed. You have to scroll down a bit more or use the search function or labels.

Blackeyedlily

The Old Gods are tied to the Children of the Forest. The Old Gods were originally the name people used to refer to how the Children worshipped nature. And when the First Men eventually made peace with the Children, they adopted the worship of the Old Gods, which is represented through the Weirwood Trees. The supernatural aspects of Warging and Greenseeing were originally magic of the Children of the Forest. Many people believe that these abilities were acquired by the First Men through some people interbreeding with Children of the Forest. In the book Jojen Reed tells Bran that one in a thousand First Men are born Skin Changers, or Wargs. And only one in one thousand Skin Changers has the ability to be a Greenseer. It also seems that a serious illness or injury can be the incident that initiates these abilities, like Bran falling from the tower. But interestingly, all of the Stark children are Wargs in the books. The Bran chapters after he has found the Three Eyed Raven explain a lot more of this. They are some of my favorite chapters, as they are typically favorites of people who enjoy the more mystical/magical aspects of the story, which the show does downplay. I don’t think that I have added much of anything here that hasn’t already been said in either the show or one of the history episodes. I’ve just put it into a little more condensed version, since you were questioning the relevance of the Old Gods at this point in the story.

Dasypodidae

I think it might be confusing for some that the edited and unedited version of the episode are nog longer directly beneath each other in the feed because of the earlier release for the top tier. So maybe a little communication about this and how to find it is necessary.

Don Cunningham

one of the most heart breaking scene. we all cried with you.

Chris C

Hodor's name origin reveal is a very minor event in the grand scheme of things, but assuming this is the same in the books, it blows my mind how GRR Martin can wrap it up into the story, into such an impactful event. I couldn't sleep after watching this episode back in the days ^^

@Jaroslav Stannis got done dirty in general. It still irritates me all these years later.

There are a few community posts about this already. As far as finding the video more easily, if you go up to the top of the page you can see that there are tags for each show and for the full uncuts and edits. So just click on the one for whichever GoT video style you want and it will filter everything else out and just show those. Hope that helps. =)

Jonathanese

So I *think* the idea is that by seeing Willis in the past, and being warged into Hodor in the present, he inadvertently connected their minds. So Willis had a seizure and experienced his dying moments. And lived out the rest of his days saying his last words.

Jonathanese

I'm with Pudgey on the religion debate. I'd say, arguably, the old gods are essentially the collective wisdom accumulated by the godswood trees, which greenseers like Bran and Brynden (The Three-Eyed Raven) have access to by essentially being able to warg into the trees.

Muki Krishnan

You guys should definitely read the books. Euron is waaaay better and his speech at the kingsmoot is once of the best speeches in the series. Here’s a link to his real speech: https://youtu.be/DBiNdwcF4WU

Zakaria Ya

The Great Urine Greyjoy! 😂

Milorad

I never cry when watching movies and shows, but there's something about Hodor's death that breaks me every time. He knew how he would die since he was a boy. At the end of season 4, when Bran meets Three-eyed Raven, they are talking about Jojen's death and the Raven said "he knew what would happen, from the moment he left, and he went anyway." The camera is focused on Hodor, and you can see in his eyes he knows the Raven is also talking about him. Things like that you can only realize on a rewatch.

neutchain

As for HODOR I believe Bran connected the minds of the young one with the one in the present when he warged into Hodor and he experienced his dying moments which probably broke him. From that point onwards he knew how he will die. Great vid guys, this was a great episode.

Ghostcat

The stark music for Hodor <3 he was an honorary Stark through and through

Kimberly Cunningham

Go back and watch episode 2 of this season. When Brad first returns from his Winterfell vision. He says Hodor, I saw you as a boy, your name is Willis and you talked. What happened...gut wrenching.

Ietseatapples
>>108065616

The kingsmoot chapter is one of the worst, most excruciating long, pointless chapters in the book... made dumb and stupid in the show tho.... (show Euron is the worst character in the series for sure).... and no, they should not read the books unless they want to waste hours of their life on a story that will never be finished

Daryl

Ah Hodor 😢 You’ll be happy to know you can buy Hodor door stoppers. 👍. I’ve got one.

Benn David

Euron is such a garbage character. He was introduced far too late in the game. So much better in the book.

Sean Carroll

Euron is scary in the books but in the show he’s just an annoying waste of space. He may be worse then Ramsay in the books but at least they did a good job of making show Ramsay horrible while doing a poor job of euron

Nick Huber

Summer ran in because the dire wolves are expensive to cg. That isn't a joke it is literally the reason. Same reason ghost is barely on screen

James Paganini

Euron is by far my favourite character and I don’t understand the hate for him.

Scuba Steve

Because of this episode I can’t even use the phrase “hold the door” in real life.

Leroy

The complexity of trying to understand the timeline in this is mind-boggling to me. a future version of Bran went back into the past and got into the mind of young Willis, relating his mind to his future self of when he dies holding a door. the trauma of his future self dying while being connected to his past self fried his brain and left past Willis with the ability to speak only of the final dying words of future wills in a distorted manner. It's brilliant writing and one of the very best episodes in TV history.

Betty Alice

Okay okay okay. There’s so much to say about what you guys said at the end, I don’t even know where to start lol. You guys always touch on important stuff without even knowing how important it is. You guys are very insightful lol

Betty Alice

Three Eyed Raven is Brynden Rivers. Everyone was mad about Summer, just so dumb. Yes, the spear had dragon glass. Book readers were very confused on whether the stuff about the children creating the white walkers would be canon or not, and we’re still wondering. You guys seriously have to check out theory videos when you’re done. So much more but I have to start work lol

Scuba Steve
>>108082451

I’m not sure it’s quite as complex as that but pretty close to this. I think the event that triggered Wylis seizure and ultimate breakdown wasn’t necessarily because he viewed his death, but that Bran warged into his mind (in the dreamcast/ back in time) connecting it across time. It’s just even more tragic that it was unknowingly in his dying moments and that translated across. Not entirely sure if this is how it will work out in the books, but for all the shit D&D get about the “writing” post Martin Leaving and surpassing the books this scene was one of the most heart wrenching/tragic scenes in cinema/tv history

Julien
>>108077769

Here again w the setting of expectations for a brand new character. Ah well 😂👍

Trainer Red

Honestly, at this point I wouldn't think too hard about things. You'll see things gradually make less sense and plot points stop mattering. Just enjoy the ride and the spectacle. There's a lot of set up happening that won't amount to much in the end. Maybe this way, the ending won't be as disappointing as it was for pretty much everybody else.

Milorad

Spartan c'mon, you pledged yourself to be loyal to house Stark, and then you downplay the old gods like that, really?? Everyone in the north still worships the old gods! Including beyond the wall!

Niko
>>108081433

hes dollar store jack sparrow. let alone how magnificent the book character is.

William
>>108087414

Why even watch? Forget the fact that the mods are going to tell you delete this trash of a comment. But why pay to watch? What is the point of watching something you hate?

Shellbot
>>108087414

Yes please can this be deleted as it violates the setting of expectations rule.

Tech Go
>>108087414

can you just stfu let people watch and form their own expectations you're ruining the whole point of a reaction

Gam Mac
>>108080896

It's true that the cg is expensive but they could've just had Summer roam around and do wild direwolf things in the wild like how Ghost did when Jon was beyond the wall. I think Summer's death is more a symbolic thing. It symbolizes Bran leaving his Stark life behind and becoming the Three-Eyed Raven.

Eddie House

This episode had such a GREAT conversation the next day at the office I was working at. This made us all cry. Hodor was such a sweet gentle giant and we all loved him. Thank you Hodor for protecting Bran and Meera. Such a good episode.

Marcell

Remember that Dany's ships were burned at the begining of the season. So she might need to make an alliance with someone with many ships, if she wants to go to westerns. And yes, the children and all that are part of the old gods religion with the wierwood trees. And remember, the people in this world don't know all the characters like we do. So they don't make any decisions in relation to other characters based on the character traits that we know of those characters. So like, the people in the Iron Islands don't know Dany. So Eurons plan sounds like a good plan. And it might be.

SuddenImpulse
>>108080896

@Gam I would agree I think the symbolism is intentional there. Not only in what you said but also in the literal name Summer.

SuddenImpulse
>>108081433

It's because he is nothing like the book version whatsoever, and is in fact a far worse version. A lot of GoT fans absolutely love the book version.

SuddenImpulse
>>108082451

What they call this in timetravel lingo is a bootstrap paradox. It's a self-contained time loop where there is a person or object that has super-permanence because the events are circularly dependent on that item or person.

SuddenImpulse
>>108082451

@Scuba George did confirm that the Hold the door thing is gonna be in the books and they had taken that plotline from his notes he gave them, but beyond that the details and events around that could be very different.

SuddenImpulse
>>108083232

Personally I don't think that will be canon, or the details/nature of it will be a lot different, due to various details in the books and George interview statements in the past (I could write pages on this, but yeah), but (hopefully) we shall see eventually.

The Hodor scene makes me cry every time no matter how many times I watch it.

Mills

Euron in the books is my 2nd favorite character. He's so dangerous, powerful, mystical and mysterious. The show version is NOWHERE near an accurate representation of Euron Crow's Eye...in fact he is the most dangerous character in ASOIAF

Scuba Steve
>>108082451

Good. I couldn’t remember if I read that or not. I would also assume that summers demise may be where some of the deviations occur, but that’s to be expected as the dire wolves have taken a backseat in the show for financial reasons since the beginning.

Scuba Steve
>>108082451

For clarity in my mind. That’s essentially all time travel right. Essentially meaning that you cannot go back in time to change the past. Whatever happened has already happened. Example of bootstrap paradox in Interseller would be McConaghy going into the tesseract and coding the longitude and latitude of NASA for himself to find and then also ultimately encoding the data into the watch. Current self doesn’t recall it happening because because it was the future self that went back in time to cause such paradox and thus current self would only become aware of it once they reach that point in time when the future self accomplished such task. Hence us being 4 dimensional beings with control over 3 dimensions but not time (4th) dimension.

Samantha

I can't heart the phrase "hold the door" without thinking about this. A lot of mentioning that the reason Willis has the seizure is because Bran is in the minds of both Willis and of Hodor, so Willis is experiencing his own death/last words. He know knows how he will die, but cannot speak of it. But also what many are forgetting, is that he also knows that he will be Bran's protector. Even knowing his fate, he never tried to change it.

Snair

Littlefinger actually did let Sansa know he had an army waiting for her, he said they were encamped around Moat Cailin

Shannon Bey

"hold the door" elicits the same response from me as "leaves from the vine"...

SuddenImpulse
>>108111322

While I love him as a character I think calling him the most dangerous character in the series is a little premature given where things are at. Heck, half the things he claims about his history we don't even know how true they are.

SuddenImpulse
>>108082451

Well, there are quite a few variations of timetravel, how it works, and various paradoxes and other situations. Some others would be the Predestination paradox, Grandfather paradox, Lets Kill Hitler paradox (yes its actually called that) and Polchinski paradox for example. I would say that Bootstrap is the most common however, in part because its one of the easiest to not screw up the rest of the "equation" of a story. I always get leery when time shenanigans get involved in a story because most of the time they become a mess and established rules get broken, etc. Few do it well. An example that has I'd say would be the tv series Dark. There are different conceptions of time travel and theories on such cause-effect systems, to where there are versions where being able to alter the past is indeed possible, but thats a very tricky concept that can get messy real fast. But yes, Interstellar uses some of this more than once.

Sarah Stapleton

Didn’t think I would still bawl my eyes out at this ep, but here we are 🥺 I was so frustrated with Bran at this point.

Tyler Craig

Season 6 episodes 9 and 10 are my favorites! Can't wait to watch your reaction.

Gam Mac

I remember this episode broke my brain when it aired. The twist, the long game writing, the time travel paradox... i was just sat in my chair for a few minutes staring at my tv screen at the end of the episode. It's a wonder I could still form sentences after and not just express everything in "Hodor" 😅

Sean Carroll
>>108087414

hold on arent you a mod SuddenImpulse030??? Youre not going to delete this comment but last week my simple jokey comment was deleted, double standards much

trent sutton

I can’t stand the High sparrow, all his god smash talk BS, I was gutted what he did to Cersei, she’s our bad guy not his , that punishment she got belonged to the starks

SuddenImpulse
>>108087414

@Sean Carroll I do not have the ability to delete comments on Patreon. Only Spartan and Pudgey can do that. There are no double standards here. If a comment is an issue, but hasn't been deleted its because we told S&P to avoid it and they haven't had the time to get around to actually removing it, or they had finished going through the comments for that video already and so didn't bother to. The important thing here is they don't read posts that break the rules, and that is what is being done regardless of whether or not it eventually ends up deleted. If you have particular issues with how moderation is occurring you are welcome to toss a DM at us mods on Discord to have a proper discussion on it, this isn't the place to have a lengthy back and forth, both because its not in real time and because its hard to keep track of replies to comments on Patreon. There are no double standards here. People are treated the same re: the rules. At least we try are hardest to do so. Yes, sometimes there are grey areas on things, and we try to make the best decision given the details, but generally if its really iffy we take the safest course of action. We aren't always perfect and sometimes do make mistakes. If that happens, we do state such and apologize, and this has been proven in the past, but this is not the case in this instance. If you follow the very simple rules, you have nothing to worry about, double-standards included. Tons of people comment all the time, and never break any of the rules, and have never had their posts deleted or asked to be edited/deleted the entire time this Patreon has existed. Cheers.

MarcusA

Just want to point out again the fact, that George R.R. Martin named a character almost 30 years ago and knew it would pay off many, many years later. It's also amazing that it's for such a very specific reason, he knew that scene would come up exactly as it did for decades.

DrückebergerTV
>>108111322

I agree. Euron in the books is the best promise of an great character. Show Euron is actually better.

Niko

Book Euron is a combination of Tywin and Melisandre... just imagine that

Tyler Craig
>>108139851

It doesn’t set any expectations at all. If I said I can’t wait for you to watch season 8 because it’s my favourite that changes nothing

Kai Harwood

Summer went in because HBO needed less budget for direwolves :'D

CherryPi

Do you really think that Littlefinger does something for someone else instead of him? He's a man that always had his own goals, as you know, and only these are important.

SuddenImpulse
>>108310409

For all we know thats how Summer actually dies. In a way it makes sense as a plot point at this story juncture. More than a lot of potential uses for Summer beyond this point, at any rate.

Chef Nourhan Malik

Man the ending to this episode never gets easier! Rip Hodor, one of the best kept secrets in GOT no one knew about this twist as GRRM never revealed it until the right moment. Absolutely heartbreaking and GENIUS at the same time.
