"How the hell do you get to that conclusion, like at all" Simple ^^ Light killed too many criminals in Japan, plus the random heart attacks started in Japan too, so L's suspicion was that the perpetrator was from Japan L is incredibly bright as you'll come to see :)

Absolutely, especially because the first murder was in Japan and the guy was small time so he didn't make global news. Who else but a japanese person or someone located in Japan would think to kill that criminal? Even if it was a tourist, the question remains: Why would someone without deep ties to Japan feel kinship enough with Japanese people to kill a criminal there? Most would choose their own country to 'save'. Furthermore, this brings into question about the culture of Kira and his concept of ethics. Some smaller or developing nations have a more lax ethical system on killing and would likely keep their killing hyperlocal as they arent too concerned with large moral platitudes/ethical concerns nor global "wrongs". A country with strong ethical frameworks and first-world sensibilities like Japan, where the first criminal died with this modus operandi, is far more likely to produce someone who is detached enough from life/death consequences but close enough to strong ethical frameworks to produce someone who would be willing to take justice into their own hands on a large scale. With those pieces lined up, it was a case of simple deduction for L to triangulate Kira and begin the great game.

Get ready for a ton of "I'm pretty proud of myself" and "How tf did Pudgey call it?" Because this seems right up her alley.

The twists and turns in this are on another level.
