Good evening ya'll!

Back home finishing up Naked Lunch. Review coming next week.

Reading 'Fragments' by Heraclitus (Paid Link) as well, a beautiful short book by a profoundly interesting Greek philosopher. Highly recommended.

Thanks very much for helping me keep this project going and hope you're having a nice Friday.

1. Book I'd love to read - Dark Carnival: The Secret World of Tod Browning, Hollywood’s Master of the Macabre by David J. Skal (Paid Link)

Tod Browning's Freaks is one of the greatest films of all time. Can't wait to read this one.

Discovered from author William Boyle's instagram @wmboyle4

2. What would it be like to live in the former home of William S. Burroughs?

What indeed...

I almost visited Burroughs's old house in NOLA, but as time was short, I opted for the location mentioned below.

3. Steve Earle - Meet Me in the Alleyway

A good one. Turns out to have been part of the soundtrack for True Detective (S1).

Thanks to @Durangoism for the excellent post that informed me about the area of Louisiana known as "Cancer Alley". I drove through it the other day while listening to this track. Perfect fit.

4. Jodorowsky on Violence

"Poetry is violence." - Alejandro Jodorowsky

The man has a lot of energy.

Found originally through this post by @slavicarts

5. Crispin Glover on David Letterman

That time when Glover's Platform shoes nearly met Letterman's face.

Classic.

Glover discusses the incident here.

The Atala butterfly, found all over Bok Tower Gardens (tons of them) where we did those shots for the Yeats review. My wife informed me that blue is the rarest color in nature.

Love that Jodorowsky clip whenever I see it. As stated last week, VERY excited to see this Burroughs review. Was not aware of Cancer Alley despite my lifelong proximity to it. That’s a novel waiting to happen haha

Cheers Cliff. I really enjoyed both of Steve Earle’s books that I have read, Doghouse Roses (short stories) and the novel I’ll Never Get Out of This World Alive. Highly recommend both. The novel is about a down and out doctor who may or may not have given Hank Williams the dose of morphine that killed him and he goes on to live with the ghost of Hank Williams in San Antonio.
