Good evening ya'll, how are things?

Hot as all hell down here.

Review of "A Clockwork Orange" coming soon, hope you enjoy.

Wishing you well, have a nice weekend.

1. Currently Reading: "The Killer Inside Me" by Jim Thompson (Paid Link)

A Southern Gothic tale of a deeply twisted deputy sheriff in West Texas by legendary crime author Jim Thompson.

2. Italo Disco "Mind Enterprises"

I got a laugh out of these guys. Perfect.

Found via friend and patron @vincent_nappi

3. Nick Cave recently donated 2,000 books to a bookstore

Many thanks to friends and patrons G J and Hayden for informing me about this. I imagine there's some great stuff to be found.

4. Dax Riggs - I Hear Satan

The somber solo work from the singer of Acid Bath.

Good live version here.

5. Eddington directed by Ari Aster

Caught this last weekend.

Covid is used metaphorically as a psychological disease that destabilizes the psychic landscape of America.

Darkly comedic, terrifyingly accurate. I highly recommend it.

I'll be interested to hear what you think of Jim Thompson. I actually finished his Pop. 1280 not too long ago and the premise of The Killer Inside Me sounds very similar -- small town sheriff's "aw shucks" demeanor belies a much violent reality. I enjoyed Pop. 1280. It didn't go too deep but it was a fun, quick read that went to some dark places. And it's cool you are exploring Dax Riggs a little. I may have actually listened to his solo, mellower stuff more than Acid Bath the past couple of years.

Cool to see Nick Cave donating so many books. He did the soundtrack for a movie I highly recommend: Loin des hommes (Far from Men) in 2014. It was based off a Camus short story and Viggo Mortensen speaks French and Arabic in it. Awesome film.
