Good afternoon ya'll, how's it faring?

I posted the latest Sexual Personae video last night, if you haven't had the chance. AMA video coming next.

Currently reading Milan Kundera's "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" (Paid Link) for the first time. Wishing you and yours the best in an increasingly strange landscape. Have a nice weekend, and thank you so much for your ongoing support.

Book sent to me by my friend Gabriel: "Nazi Literature in the Americas" by Roberto Bolaño

A satirical collection of fictitious "Nazi-Author" character portraits.

Hard to beat Bolaño. He's got a fantastic sense of dark humor. Been too long since I've read something by him, I can't wait.

Thanks very much Gabriel!

Killing Joke's "Love Like Blood" was inspired by Mishima

Had no idea, but it makes sense judging from the lyrics. No wonder I've loved that song for years. Here's my favorite version.

A Beautiful Music Video shot in North Africa: The Stranglers - Golden BrownAn eccentric, catchy, and vaguely melancholy song - Excellent cinematography in the video.

Wild at Heart by MareauxNot one for pop(ish) music usually, but this is a Darkwave Banger. Perfectly captures a vapid night in L.A.

I cannot get this thing out of my head.

Top Hat scene "Cheek to Cheek" with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers

One of Paglia's "androgyne of manners" she mentioned doing what he does best. In the immortal words of Frank from Lynch's Blue Velvet: "You are so fuckin' suave!"

The other week, we visited a local neighborhood in St. Pete called "Jungle Terrace". Turns out it's overrun with Peacocks.

I believe the cover photo for the "Love Like Blood" single is an appropriately naked man with a sword. I wasn't aware it was explicitly inspired by Mishima, but I've put it in my Mishima-adjacent playlists since I first heard it.

Thanks for some of the ambient darkwave I may need it while I do my dissertation on HP Lovecraft.

Kundera is wonderful! His Life is Elsewhere is one of his most underrated books, if you ask me, so if you like The Unbearable Lightness of Being, perhaps consider giving it a go.

Doing great. Just went to a sold out concert with Die Krupps. Tons of fun. Huge fan of Killing Joke's Nighttime album. I just bought a danish translation of Mishima's The Sailor after watching your review. Bolaño sounds nice. I'll check it out. Have a great weekend.

Just finished “The Unbearable Lightness of Being” not too long ago, revelatory novel for myself; found me at the perfect time! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it!
