Book in the Pipeline:
The World Atlas of Coffee by James Hoffman.
Not only will I be discussing coffee and the book, I'll be showing you how to roast it on a little Behmore 1600+.
This book provides the history of coffee producing in all the countries it includes, explains different brewing techniques and shows you how to make various beverages composed of milk and coffee (Cafe Latte, Cappuccino, Flat White etc).
I discovered this awesome trailer for the 2nd edition of the book (I read the 1st).

A book I picked up in Austin:
Jean Giono's 'A King Alone'
A story about a police officer (?) who visits an Alpine village in which villagers are disappearing.
Described on the back of the NYRB copy as a 'Metaphysical Western'.This was recommended to me by the author Fernando Flores (http://thewriterflores.com ) who works at Malvern Books.
An Outrageously Cool Performance by The Gun Club:
The Gun Club were a strange mix of country blues and punk from Los Angeles, featuring the larger than life vocalist Jeffrey Lee Pierce and at one point Patricia Morrison pre-Sisters of Mercy.
I didn't know this existed - I've never seen Jeffrey Lee Pierce give such a cathartic performance.

A semi-recent song by Iggy Pop and Underworld that I can't stop listening to:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrCa_PTu0t0
This was a collaboration with British electronic music group Underworld, who were also on the soundtrack of the first Trainspotting film.
This has been in my head for months.
I enjoyed the combination of the modern sound with the direct sincerity of the lyrics.
To me, it conveys the exhaustion of aging in the modern era, and for someone of Iggy's age, I can't even imagine how different everything must seem, how accelerated and insane.
It's getting so much harder to be free/It's getting so much harder to be me.
Last awesome Instagram I followed:
Tons of masterpieces on here.

Last Show I saw:
BORIS and UNIFORM at the Barracuda in Austin Texas.
I’ve wanted to see this band live for nearly 10 years. They’re a rock band from Tokyo with ties to SUNN O))) and Merzbow.
Their track Farewell was in Jim Jarmusch’s ‘Limits of Control’ (terrific soundtrack), and I thought that was nothing short of a masterpiece.
1:18 feels like being engulfed in an ocean of gorgeous noise.

UNIFORM blew me away with the raw intensity, and now I can't stop listening to this track.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mu5pQ12kZMAlmost nobody was jumping or moshing or dancing. I was amazed.
