1. Book (Possibly) In the Pipeline - Havoc by Tom Kristensen

An NYRB release, I have to mention I'm sponsored by them (in that they send me books for free), however this was a gift from a generous fan.

I don't know much about it, other than a Danish journalist and family man decides to destroy himself with alcohol.

2. One of my favorite albums that you can't get on Spotify

Teenage Snuff Film by Rowland S. Howard - Previously of The Birthday Party.

Unbelievable - Legendary. Bleeding Teenage-Love-Nightmare rock and roll. Filled with Self Pity, Morose, Bitter and Cynical as all hell...and it's so damn good.

It will be said over and over, but there's no one who sounds like Rowland S. Howard.

Favorite track: Silver Chain

There's a documentary on him as well entitled Autoluminescent.

3. John Waters' Criterion Picks

4. I have no idea what this means for the future, but I'm fascinated.https://news.sky.com/story/problem-that-would-take-10-000-years-for-normal-pc-is-solved-in-four-minutes-11815530

5. An Idea That I've Been Contemplating

It's amazing how sometimes a little discomfort and struggle is all you need to feel good.

It occurred to me while at the gym, but it probably applies in multiple contexts.

Bonus: The Last Great Thing I Saw.

Bill Murray shooting at pirates in a bathrobe and speedo to Search and Destroy by The Stooges.

A Detroit spot I'll miss. The Siren Hotel.

Hi Cliff Thanks for this post. I love John Waters. He's just kooky. Bill Murray is the Man. ( He was one of my childhood crushes.) And I will check out Rowland S. Howard. I am drawn to music that goes against the grain and gets my adrenaline flowing. Have a awesome weekend! Peace :)

David Deutsch's "the Fabric of Reality" is an excellent pop science book written by one of the pioneers of quantum computing. It discusses quantum computing at length and touches on other areas such as Popper vs. Kuhn (Deutsch is a Popperian) and Dawkins's the Selfish Gene. It's heavily influenced by Bronowski's the Ascent of Man.
