1. Rest in Peace Nick Tosches

I just heard of his passing.

I'll soon review In the Hand of Dante, or Hellfire or something.

I once almost met Tosches in the SoHo cigar bar I heard he frequented. He had been in earlier that day in fact, but I missed him.

2.  A Great Film for Halloween

How Jeremy Irons manages to become two distinctly different characters with just a slightly different haircut is impressive.

Cronenberg is one of the best. His adaptation of Crash with James Spader was outrageous as well.

3. This is Fucking Funny

While I'm not a huge fan of SNL, I have to say, Will Ferrell absolutely nails this.

4. Noise Rock That I Still Love

Flipper were the best at being the worst.

I used to listen to them in my teenage years. I'm still discovering songs by them that I love.

That guitar is perfect.

The Melvins' cover of Way of the World is among the heaviest, and in a way, most tragic songs I've heard.

5. A Book in the Pipeline

Beyond Good & Evil by Friedrich Nietzsche

This book is just stunning. I haven't read enough Nietzsche, and not since my teenage years (aside from Zarathustra in my 20's), and I was too young to understand what I was getting into at the time.

I bought this edition and it - is - BEAUTIFUL.
