Perhaps the most incredible book I read in 2020 was Lanny by Max Porter. It's an experimental novel, with a kind of poetic rhythm that drives things forward without ever falling into pretension (in my opinion, anyway). At it's heart, it's a love letter to the mundane and the remarkable about village life (and somehow makes that brilliant). It allowed me to open myself up more to poetry, and there's nothing else like it. (also, just picked up The Peregrine, and so far it's bloody brilliant, so cheers for the recommendation)

Bill McAuley

Great-list. What about 20 books to read in 2021
