Ch-Ch-Hah-Hah-HahHappy Friday the 13th Ya'll

Dang that's a hell of a composition though, no?

A slasher flick will probably never have such a score again.

1. Book I'd like to read - The Encyclopedia of the Dead by Danilo Kis

I've heard of Kis but haven't yet read, looking forward to it.

----------------------------------------

An entrancing, otherworldly collection of short stories from one of Europe's most accomplished 20th century writers, new to Penguin Modern ClassicsA counter-prophet attempts the impossible to prove his power; a girl sees the hideous fate of her sisters and father in a mirror bought from a gypsy; the death of a prostitute causes an unanticipated uprising; and the lives of every ordinary person since 1789 are recreated in the almighty Encyclopedia of the Dead. These stories about love and death, truth and lies, myth and reality range across many epochs and settings. Brilliantly combining fact and fiction, epic and miniature, horror and comedy, this was Danilo Kiš final work, published in Serbo-Croatian in 1983. - Goodreads

The most famous collection of short fiction by acclaimed Yugoslavian writer Danilo Kis. In these nine stories Kis depicts human relationships, encounters, landscapes—the multitude of details that make up a human life. Kis combines fiction and history in postmodern style, and in a postscript provides fascinating historical backgrounds and other notes for the reader that add interest and context. An enduring classic of Slavic literary fiction. - Amazon

2. Iggy Pop - Fall In Love With Me

Had this stuck in my head for days...Love this period of Iggy Pop. Here's an interview from that era, I've never seen him attempting to be so deliberately serious. He may be my favorite musician.

3. Ingrid Bergman didn't have faith in Casablanca

That does actually blow my mind. It's like Orson Welles basically winging it with Citizen Kane.

I totally believe it though. This is the beauty of film - People with a bunch of resources having absolutely no idea what they're doing and making something transcendent.

4. At the age of 32 I discovered that all my life I really just wanted to grow up and be Sam Elliot in Roadhouse.

You can have the rest of the film but Sam Elliot is the greatest.

"Goddamn that hurts dunnit?"

5. Santo & Johnny - Sleep Walk live

That guitar right? So good. So eerie-cool.

The Smoke Hath Arrived

Living in this region is carcinogenic. It appears this is seasonal now. Sure makes for some pretty sunsets (*cough)
