Tinged with subtle dry humor, 'The Stranger' is a short, tragic novella dealing with the inherent absurdity of life. It's one of the greatest books I've read.

My choice for a beach read.

In Praise of Horny Medusa

I thought Mersault to be a sociopath or psychopath when I first read it. The way he thinks and zero emotional attachment, yet being charming and respected... Somehow The Stranger reminds me of Blue Of Noon. I don't have any idea why. I just remembered what you said in your review about the plague; that this guy rewriting the first sentence of his novel all the time. You're right, that's a running joke but also a personification of Camus' syssiphus. This dude was happy doing the same thing over and over again, moving not even a millimeter farther.

If humans search for meaning in a world that, according to existentialism, really has no meaning, then detachment is the natural reaction to that realization. The sun, giver of life on Earth, is not God but an impersonal, relentless ball of fire that burns inexorably. We live our lives under that unforgiving flame.

I identify a lot with this book, I always recommend it to someone who has not read it, One of my favorites for sure, it leaves you with a brief analysis of the society and how someone who doesn't feel identified with anything about her. Camus itself say it "the hero of my book is condemned because he does not play the game" love it
