Good evening everyone, hope this finds you well and you have a great weekend.

Gearing up for the trip to Florida, deciding on the destinations. Happily taking recommendations for bookstores or restaurants to visit if you have them and our path synchs. Might head through Utah and Colorado down to New Mexico but still deciding.

Meanwhile...

1. Book I'd Like to Read - On the Abolition of All Political Parties by Simone Weil

I've heard many great things about Weil, haven't yet had the chance to read anything by her.

----------------------------

Simone Weil—philosopher, activist, mystic—is one of the most uncompromising of modern spiritual masters. In “On the Abolition of All Political Parties” she challenges the foundation of the modern liberal political order, making an argument that has particular resonance today, when the apathy and anger of the people and the self-serving partisanship of the political class present a threat to democracies all over the world. Dissecting the dynamic of power and propaganda caused by party spirit, the increasing disregard for truth in favor of opinion, and the consequent corruption of education, journalism, and art, Weil forcefully makes the case that a true politics can only begin where party spirit ends.

2. The Big Lebowski

So this was apparently based loosely on 'The Big Sleep'.

"I'll suck your dick for $1000."

Bunny Lebowski was far less subtle than Carmen Sternwood. My favorite scene. Philip Seymour Hoffman's reaction is phenomenal.

3. The Addiction

Exceptional vampire film by Abel Ferrara. Vampirism as a metaphor for heroin addiction in 90's NYC. Tough cinema.

Christopher Walken makes a cameo.

So, so, so good.

4. Former Patron Turned Youtuber

This guy is killin it. Terrific video on Bourdain.

5. Emptyset - Border

I don't know what you call this...Experimental electronic? Noise? I love it.

Hanging out at the Zen Garden at the Japanese Garden in Portland Oregon

Ungoliant, The Gloomweaver

Driller Killer was always a favorite Ferrara film of mine. I've never seen The Addiction but I do love me some cheesy vampire goodness so it's going on the list
