Gooood evening everyone, pouring cats and dogs over here as hurricane season is ramping up.

Hope all is well! Thanks for your support.

1. Book I need to read - Geek Love by Katherine Dunn

This last week I discovered I'm related to a Coney Island Carny who was particularly fond of the Freak Show.

Been told I have to read this. It's a story about a traveling family of circus freaks, made so by the ringleaders of the troupe...their parents.

2. Rendevous by Claude Lelouche

Turn it up and watch with your morning coffee.

An amazing short film with a very simple premise.

3. "I wanna die young but I'm getting old......my life is killing my rock & roll"Killer track by a Psych Rock band from Iceland named Singapore Sling.

4. Tod Browning's 'Freaks'

Excellent film. One of the greatest of all time.

Featuring the actor Johnny Eck, nicknamed 'Tabletop Joe', who had a great song written about him by Tom Waits.

Apparently, Leonardo DiCaprio has been trying to make a biopic about him since the 90's. I'd definitely watch that.

5. Scarcely believable

Watching a clip of Antonio Banderas teaching us some Spanish slang, I was astounded - astounded - to come across a near identical phrase that I used to jokingly say to other students as an immature high school Spanish student, that turned out to be, in fact, an actual Spanish slang phrase.

I used to say "yo cago en tu leche", very rude of course, but, of course, it sounded funny to me as a crass adolescent, partly because it seemed so random.

Pues...Que sorpresa extraña...

Me cago en la leche is an actual Spanish slang phrase, used to illustrate someone's disappointment.

My cousin's brindle pug 'Gravy'

Brindle pugs are very rare, making up only 1% of the pug population

Geek Love is a must-read.

You're going to love Geek Love. I'm sure I'm not the only one to recommend it to you. I read it as a double feature with Nightmare Alley.
