Good evening everyone, how goes? All is fine here, just finished up a review of 'Revolt of the Angels' by Anatole France, will post asap.

Wishing you a great weekend, and hope you're reading something spectacular.

And as always, if so, please let me know.

1. Book to Read: The Oldest Epic Poem - The Epic of Gilgamesh

Looks phenomenal. Fascinating that nobody knows who wrote it.

I'll probably start with this and then get to The Odyssey and The Iliad.

2. Ian Richardson reads Paradise Lost by John Milton - With John Gielgud as the Host

Really need to re-review that one. Been too long.

3. Loved this for years

Unbelievably beautiful dark choral music from Arvo Pärt.

4. Mutiny in Heaven

If I were asked who my favorite band is, I'd reply: 'The Birthday Party'.

5. Tom Spanbauer on Dangerous Writing

Mentor of Chuck Palahniuk. Still haven't read anything by him but I should.

Here's part 2 with him talking about the writing of Fight Club

I read Gilgamesh a few years ago. I generally have trouble connecting with the ancient classics, but really enjoyed this one. I find it fascinating that the Genesis flood narrative is almost certainly at least partially sourced from Gilgamesh.

Hi Cliff I am not sure if you know about this but a writer John Sepich has just realised a series of notes on phone conversations he held with Cormac McCarthy about Blood Meridian in 1990 (Sepich wrote a book Notes on Blood Meridian in 2008). Anyway those notes can be viewed here: http://johnsepich.com/conversations-with-mccarthy/
