My wife is forcing me to go see zac efron's chin in 'the iron claw' tonight.

I might not be able to resist taking my own life. Remember me.

I would've preferred to go see bradley cooper's fake nose in 'maestro'. My inlaws say I look like him.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Thank you very much for your continued support.

1. Book to read: Benjamin Labatut's - The Maniac

A book about the Hungarian mathematician John von Neumann, written by Chilean author Benjamin Labatut.

2. The bizarre Slovenian totalitarian musical avant-garde art project Laibach

So this song is a cover of a German pop song turned into a pseudo-fascist anthem.

What's even stranger - Laibach was the first Western rock band to play in North Korea.

Zizek has some interesting thoughts here and here <- heads up for the weird loud click at the beginning of this clip

Doc on the band here.

Noisey (Vice affiliate) had a good article on the band here as well.

3. Weird Studies

A cool podcast discovered via author Rob Doyle's Instagram.

4. Frog

The Dotted Humming Frog has a mutually beneficial relationship with the tarantula.

That's outrageous, and apparently true.

As it says, tarantulas have been recorded attacking similar frog species...but not this specific one.

Fascinating.

5. Are we Arc? by Trust (or Tr/st)

Been listening to this track since like 2015.

Lol re: Ironclaw. Just come back from the cinema myself after watching Die Hard, rereleased to celebrate its 35th anniversary. Now it feels like Christmas. Labatut's book is very good, one of the standout reads for me this year. His previous book, When We Cease to Understand the World, is also very good and I highly recommend. I see it got some renewed interest when Oppenheimer came out in the cinema back in July.

Just finished The Maniac. Read it in under 24hrs. Same with his previous book When We Cease to Understand the World. The absolute highest recommendation for both.

Harold Niver

Both of Labatut’s books are incredible. Same as Malik said below - highest possible recommendation for both.

Laibach is great. I will see them live in Berlin in May. Wish you a nice holiday.
