1. This Month’s Requests

I wasn’t able to finish the request today!

because I’ve run out of the line work I prepared in advance and need time to prepare more.

About half of this month’s requests are complete. The remaining requests will carry over into early next month.

2. Why I’m Considering a Change

As my work has become more detailed and higher in quality, each piece now takes one to two days to complete.

Over time, I’ve changed the request rules several times before settling on the current first-come, first-served system. However, even this system has its limits...

Due to health and time constraints, some supporters have gone nearly a year without receiving a request, while others have missed their chance to sign up. That’s why I feel the rules need to change once again!!

3. Doodle Requests

Of course, I think it’s only natural for my artwork to improve over time and for me to provide better work for my supporters.

However, as the quality of my drawings has increased, each piece has taken more time to complete, and I’ve often struggled with time constraints and health issues.

At the same time, more and more supporters have been missing out on requests.

Quite a few of you have also told me that you’d be happy to receive a request even if it were just a Doodle.

That’s why I’m considering switching to my usual, simpler Doodle style. This would allow more Heavy Wraith supporters to submit requests without having to rush to sign up, while making the workload more manageable for me.

This would mean:

No coloring

Simple backgrounds

Simpler line work

Reduced drawing time to accommodate more requests

No first-come, first-served slots

I don’t plan to add a higher tier or raise the price to maintain the current quality, as doing so would put more pressure on both me and my supporters.

I’ve tried this approach before, but my drawings gradually became more detailed again over time. That could happen again, but I think it’s worth giving this approach another try.

Here are some examples comparing the two styles.

4. Heavy Wraith Tier Limit

If we switch to Doodle requests, the Heavy Wraith tier will open every other month and remain open until the 4th week of that month, with a maximum of 64 members.

There are currently 61 members, so only about 3 spots remain.

That means around 64 drawings a month. I think I can manage that with the Doodle style! Of course, I’ll have to try it and see...

5. What Do You Think?

This month’s requests will proceed as usual.

Please vote to let me know which system you’d prefer for future requests!

🗳️ Vote for Your Preferred Option

① Current System

Maintain the current high quality

Limited to 30 slots

Requests are first-come, first-served, so not everyone will get a chance to submit one

② Doodle System

Simplified drawing style

No first-come, first-served slots; requests close in the fourth week of the month

All Heavy Wraith supporters can submit requests, up to a maximum of 64 members

📌 Additional Note

Even if we switch to Doodle requests, anyone who has been waiting nearly a year without receiving a request will still receive a full-color drawing at the current quality.

Even with the Doodle style, I may occasionally add more detail if I get particularly interested in a request’s subject. I can’t promise that won’t happen! This is because I often find myself unintentionally increasing the quality of my work as I draw.

This post was translated with the help of AI. I’ve done my best to preserve the original meaning, but there may still be some awkward phrasing or translation errors. Thank you for your understanding.

I know some of you have been waiting a long time, and I’d like to give more people a chance to receive a request.

Of course, I understand that some of you may prefer the higher-quality artwork.

Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference.Would you prefer to see high-quality artwork, or to see a lot more Doodle drawings?

Which option would you prefer?

Please vote and let me know what you think!

I'm more than happy for the doodle system if mean you aren't push yourself and the plus everybody get something :3

jele

If we switch to the doodle system, does that mean you won't be drawing pictures like this anymore...?

SlimeyJayStudio

I only joined recently and I am surprised of how many drawings you do a month before this change. I am for whatever works best for you.

Mina

My suggestion is that you number all current Heavy Wraith supporters and then send a message to each member with their assigned number. Next, announce the range of numbers you're accepting commissions for each month. This will ensure the quality of the artwork and prevent some members from being unable to commission from you. Members who haven't yet been assigned a number can also take time to consider what art they want to commission next. For example, if there are 60 eligible members, you could announce that you're only accepting commissions for numbers 1-15 this week, and then accepting commissions for numbers 16-30 next week. This way, even if other members accidentally commission from the wrong number, you can politely decline. I really love the high-quality art available now, so this is the way I believe we can maintain the current high quality while giving every Heavy Wraith supporter equal commissioning rights. Also, this is better for you. You can adjust the number of commissions for each session based on whether your body needs rest. You don't have to force yourself to meet a certain number of commissions every time. Thank you.

Managing a system like that would ultimately take up much more of my time and leave me even busier, meaning I would have much less time to actually draw. I'm really bad at organizing and managing documents, so even organizing my current requests can take anywhere from several hours to several days. At the beginning of each month, I take some time off to rest, but I spend about 30% of that time organizing documents. Even writing this announcement took me several days. Also, if I maintain my current level of quality, I can only draw around 5–7 pictures per week at most. I've received many suggestions for systems like this before, but I've always turned them down because I'm certain I wouldn't be able to manage them.

믐

There’s a very high chance that will be the case. I might only accept a very small number of full-color drawing requests. It wasn’t a problem when there were fewer requests, but now that there are so many, it has become increasingly difficult to manage.

Mina

Okay. I feel there are still some details about the backend management that I'm not clear about. I hope you can get more rest and take good care of yourself.

jele

If you run a doodle system, do you ever post announcements asking for full-color drawings on rare occasions?

믐

I don't think that would be possible unless I give up Lardyrinth or reduce the $15 tier to 25 members. Also, I'll have to try it first to see how things go. That's why I'm holding a poll in the first place. I won't know unless I give it a try. If I have some time to spare after trying it out, I might be able to select a very small number of requesters and draw their requests in high quality from time to time. However, for now, the next round of requests will follow the poll results.

jele

Thank you for your kind reply! I’ve been a fan of your art for a long time, so I’m a bit disappointed, but your health comes first. Please don’t push yourself too hard, and I look forward to the day when you’ll be accepting high-quality requests again!

Assigning numbers to every supporter and contacting each person individually isn't an easy task. Some people may stop supporting me, while others may join, so I think there are too many variables to account for. I can respond to you in this conversation because we're talking one-on-one, but contacting all 60 supporters individually would be too much for me to handle. Organizing, translating, and proofreading the request images took me roughly two days, or around 3–6 hours of actual work. And since each drawing takes me around 4–10 hours to complete, accepting requests from 15 people per week would be too much for me.

Mina

You've got it wrong. What I meant was that you just need to message us your membership number. The rest can be marked directly in the public post. For example, for the next December commission, you could say it's for members numbered 1-X. This way, you don't need to message everyone. And their commission requests can be left in the comments, just like in October. You only need to look at the eligible members, ignoring those who don't qualify. This also reduces your stress, as you can decide the number of commissions based on your physical condition. 15 is just an example; the actual number is up to you.

믐

Thank you for taking the time to explain your idea and for trying to help! I'm replying while working on my drawings, and I also have a lot on my mind right now, so my thoughts are a bit all over the place. I feel like I'm rambling instead of expressing myself clearly. I'm sorry if my replies have been a bit confusing. I really appreciate your patience and understanding!

Mina

I've noticed that the time allotted for commissions is getting shorter and shorter because everyone is rushing to leave messages to secure a commission. Before you even realize it, too many messages have already been left. My suggestion is a method that allows you to adjust the number of commissions based on your own physical condition, while also ensuring equal opportunities for all Heavy Wraith supporters. This way, you can properly assess the number of commissions you can handle each month without creating a scramble among Heavy Wraith supporters. If you feel you can handle ten commissions, open ten; if you can only handle five, open five. Heavy Wraith supporters simply check if it's their turn this time, and the cycle restarts after it's finished. This requires you to first create a table in Excel to determine each member's number.

Im ok with the doodle system or even a ych (your character here) system adjacent too it. Its strongly up to you, keep your health in first place.

Tripreed

Yeah I couldn't understand the rules that kept changing before so I just gave up on requests. So if I'm understanding correctly you'll just open requests one day and we'll request them? Edit: Oh now I see this is the "every other month" thing again. I can't really keep up with that, that's super inconvenient, so Im pretty much not going to bother with requests like I'm already doing. Its way too much effort to keep up with.

믐

I originally accepted requests every month and worked on them alongside my personal artwork, but as issues came up with the number of requests I could take, my health, and the quality of my work, I had to keep adding new rules. Unfortunately, things ended up becoming this complicated. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Tripreed

Its ok, I just don't consider requests as a benefit you offer since I knew I'd never get one, and I can't keep up with changing tiers every other month. I'm just content to see your Patreon as a gallery rather than something with other benefits

WaifuDekai

I wish for your best, the works quality is always so good and having 64 members on the drawing tier looks terrifying, I understand why you’re so overwhelmed of work to do, saving some time for yourself lowering the details and time for each drawing is indeed a good idea. Be safe and healthy Debu 🙏

djstar 323

Definitely the doodle system if it means less stress on you and better work flow. I do love your high quality drawings but I think switching to doodle system might just be better overall i wish you the best of luck and enjoy the rest of spooky month 💗

Buttery Inkling

I wouldn't mind an alternative of both, with the limits of either maybe shrinking down to compensate for the work. Then again, I also wouldn't mind just flat out commissioning you at all either.
