Hi all DIY sim racing enthusiasts,

Recently, I put together a second AMG GT3 steering wheel using some leftover parts, and I wanted to share a few photos of the project that came out of it.

You can also see here how the flanges turned out - they’re available as a digital version in this post:

I have to admit, the project was a bit more complex than I expected, especially since I had to learn how to wrap the grips in Alcantara.

What about you - what’s the biggest challenge when creating your own projects or replicas?

Is this a complete project including the steering wheel base, or just the buttons?

I only shared the button flanges and their covers. I do not manufacture or share complete steering wheel replicas 🙌

Which replica did you base this on—specifically so that the buttons would fit correctly afterwards? What exactly should I be looking for? I’d be happy to buy the STL file from you—no problem at all.

This replica is based on photos of the original and my own ideas for designing the rear part so that it is practical, visually appealing, and works well for sim racing. The button description includes the mounting hole dimension for a Ø15 mm opening in a 5 mm plate. The shared files are provided in STEP format, so the flanges can be freely modified to suit individual needs. Most of the available files for this wheel are designed around a 300 mm diameter, which results in button holes of around 12–13 mm, or even 7 mm for the bare buttons themselves. The original wheel is larger, and you can definitely feel that difference while driving.
