  • 06:37 - Beat Breaks (feat. Nas)
  • 08:43 - Terrible 2's (feat. Run The Jewels)

Extra afterthoughts:

  • i found out it's not e-i-p it's el-p (LP?) lol my bad
  • Hip-hop's official birthday is Aug 11, 1973, "born in the bronx, embraced by the globe." :)
  • i think vol 2 was supposed to be released in october, but I can't find it anywhere. is this series still running? there are supposed to be like 10 volumes by august 2023, according to this fantano interview
  • the boombox on the cover is supposed to be reflective of the producer/dj's era and influence. i love that concept, i just wish i had more context as to how this cover art reflects DJ Premier!
  • Favourite: The Root of All (feat. Slick Rick & Lil Wayne)

let me know what you think + what to check out next :)

What a fun reaction! Really happy you enjoyed that. Slick Rick is 58, but the voice is timeless. You won't find any albums of recent, his last was released in 1999! Plenty of features I believe since then. Nas needs no intro, but if you'd like another shortish album, then Magic(2021) run length is 30 minutes and DJ Premier shows up for a track. It's akin to a warm up before the big match (Kings Disease III) This was awesome, still no word on the other vols, but I'm also hoping for more, so many great producers and features left!

I can’t speak on Remy Ma, but Rapsody has two critically acclaimed albums worth checking out if you’re interested. “Laila’s Wisdom” from 2017 and “Eve” from 2019. Personally, I think Eve would work great with your format because it’s a concept album and each song is named for an influential Black woman that inspired her. It also has a great JID feature.
