What is the difficulty with Asterios sending an email to his ex employer asking why he was fired? Why is that so difficult?

It's not the difficulty of it, it's the strategy of it. Asterios doesn't think he'll get an answer, WS may as well keep quiet either way, so he wants to have his lawyer involved to ensure the best result. He wants the best chances of good results & doesn't want to do anything on his own because if he's not careful, he could lose everything, including his reputation. He just doesn't want to ANYTHING without the help of his lawyer because of how much is on the line. He has no faith that he could achieve anything on his own.

Great Late show Dick! The lake stories are right up there with my favorites. Asterios was playing Landui on that one. Refusal to answer an easy question and rolling it back around to money in an odd way. It was, well...odd. There were weird, " I'm not going to sue because I have no money, but thanks to everyone funding my efforts to sue, oh yeah... I am so in debt and need money..Hey Dick, I feel like you think I'm just asking for money"...Calling back to be confusing and pseudo-cryptic-y with lawyerish stuff, AAaAAand...askformoney (just a little for a GreenBurger bite). I'm a fan of Asterios and have always enjoyed him, but that was weird. "Could you just ask why you got fired? " "**insert "Flight of the Grumblebee(FoG)"**" "Yeah, but couldn't you just ask, it's a pretty common thing?" "Weeelll...**"FoG"** " Was he super wasted and just dopey? Was that a bit?

Yeah the Asterios bit was really uncomfortable to listen to. Could he have said "you owe it to me to pay my legal fees off with your patreon money" any more clearly without actually saying it?

That doesn't explain why he doesn't just ask. The worst that could happen is exactly that they just don't reply. It isn't going to lower his chances of attaining results with a lawyer, it's just an opportunity that he is ignoring.
