Important Update for Patreon Users on Apple Devices (Patreon)
Content
Hey everyone! I had no idea that Apple has implemented a 30% fee on all payments made through the Patreon app on iPhones and iPads.
Who Does This Affect?
• iPhone and iPad users – this applies to you.
• Android and computer users – you’re in the clear, no need to worry.
What’s Happening?
Apple is now charging a 30% fee on all Patreon purchases made through their iOS app. None of this money goes to Patreon or creators—Apple takes it all. Patreon has no choice but to apply this fee if they want their app to stay on Apple devices.
How to Avoid the 30% Fee
• Use a computer or an Android device to make payments.
• Do NOT pay for anything using the Patreon app on an Apple device.
When Does This Matter?
• If you’re already a patron and your payments are set to auto-renew, you’re fine—no action needed.
• If you upgrade your tier, make sure to do it on a computer or Android device.
• If you unsubscribe and resubscribe, do it on the Patreon website to avoid the fee.
• If you’re signing up for the first time, use a computer or Android device to join.
Can You Still Use the Patreon App?
Yes! You can still like posts, comment, and interact as usual. Just don’t make payments through the app unless you’re okay with the extra charge.
Hope this helps you avoid unnecessary fees!
