Aeropress gang RISE UP

Gwen

I could never finish that "what English sounds like to non English speakers" video when it first came out because it sounds EXACTLY like what I hear at first due to my auditory processing issues. Except I can't just wait a couple seconds for my brain to process the info, I'm just trapped in the gibberish prison 😭 /lh

Gwen

With the salad/stomach thing I'd look into/talk to a Dr about oral allergy syndrome, especially if you can eat cooked fruits and veggies but not raw

MilesKaySolomon

I went to a McDonald's once and tried to order a sausage biscuit, but I said something like, "Can I have a sausage biscuit," and they got confused, so I clarified, "you know, the biscuit with the sausage." I got my meal and went to work, and inside was a box that said "made special for you" and there was just a piece of sausage inside.

The Dreamer

Growing up we didn't have money for fresh fruit or vegetables, sometimes we didn't have money for food at all. When I was 17, I was living in my first studio apartment and fully taking care of myself. I worked as a waitress/server since I was 15. My older brother and I still laugh at something i said when he moved in with me after returning to Philly from Florida. I very cheerfully asked him if he wanted some delicious dessert one day and he said yes. I gave him an apple and he laughed 🤭. To me, fresh fruit was the best dessert I had at the time. He thought I was joking about the apple being a dessert, but he realized I was super serious and I was confused that he didn't view it as a dessert. But, we both ate an apple and now laugh about that time every now and again🥰. I cherish fresh fruit and veggies now. Hmmm...I wonder if it's something in the salad making you sick Jar Jar 🤔. There are many many many kinds of salads available these days. Maybe the type of lettuce doesn't work for you or certain toppings/dressings. Start small with 1 veggie at a time to see if a particular one is making you sick. Also, "Nutrition by Kylie" YouTube channel has great recipes for adding more nutrients to our daily lives. I personally like her content and trust her for nutrition advice because I have a degree in Kinesiology so I have a little knowledge on "diet." Kylie is a registered dietitian. Her approach is positive and welcoming. She often says, "it's not about what we can subtract from our favorite dishes, but what we can add in to provide more nutrients and dietary fiber." I hope this helps some 🤗

thats what I was thinking too, I have chronic urticaria and oral allergy syndrome and the OAS was actually causing some of my flare ups, it took a couple different allergists to finally catch what was happening but both are so much more manageable now.

listerine

was your bitmoji podcast cover a real thing??????? imdb has a 2017 sad boyz with bitmojis? i could have missed some things but u guys need to be held accountable

Emily Faubert

I was a Sbux supervisor for 5 years, and that drink is fiiiiiine. It's the 190 degree no foam chais that made me want to cry. Or a 'bone dry' coconut milk cappuccino (only foam--COCONUTS DONT FOAM)

Daniel

I knew a guy who got a salad from chick fil a that had ROCKS in it. like literal pebbles. he was hungry so he just sat down and started eating, then bit down on something hard and he was like "oo that was a really hard crouton.... oh wow that actually kinda hurt.... wait wtf is wrong with this salad??" and looked down to see dirt and pebbles just,, chilling in his salad 💀

Frank

In&Out worm-thing is a caterpillar. We have similar ones in NH. Sometimes they fall from the sky cause they live in tall trees. It’s very alarming because they’re so big.

Daniel

on the jimmy john's cash thing- I worked at a panera and it wasn't uncommon for our system to not want to take cash sometimes. idk all the reasons that can happen but it could literally just be that the drawer won't open when prompted. also, it was a FIREABLE OFFENSE to save food that had been made wrong. we HAD to throw it away. and Anastasia is right. pretty much every place throws out sickening amounts of food. we would donate surplus baked goods when possible and took home stuff at the end of closing shifts, but even then we regularly threw away trash bags full of bread. (baked goods had to be sold or discarded by end of day) I am by no means ethically opposed to people getting free food, but that guy's grievance cannot be solved by a minimum wage employee. like, dude, if you want to fix that you have to kill capitalism.

Alex mendieta

made the mistake of buying skittles the other day and eating them by the handful as if I was a kid again and quickly felt like I was having heart failure. They're sooo tasty tho... delicious poison <3

Aled

when jordan said “he lost like 20 lbs just cause he stopped having soda”, the captions said “just cause he stopped having sex”

Daniel

I already need to remove the single pump of sugar syrup from any coffee I get from Starbucks or McDonald's because I find it sickly sweet. I cannot fathom drinking 10 pumps of vanilla daily. Not to mention the 8 shorts of espresso guy - that's 4 times the recommended daily intake for caffeine.

Tyla Stark

"Looks like the cover of Ginger" lmfaooo

Tyla Stark

Oof the Jimmy John's video is so infuriating. I work at a fuel station and even with all the bs I deal with some days, I am incredibly thankful no one has tried pulling a camera out on me. I have gotten many angry old men annoyed because I can't sell them cigarettes without an ID, but considering how they act, sometimes I'm incredibly happy to refuse them service lmao.

Tyla Stark

An article popped up on my feed this morning talking about how urban populations have less gut bacteria that process veggies than rural populations.

Bingo TallHats

Damn, wish y’all were the judges when I got done for a food crime. Cuz it turns out there is a limit on the the acceptable amount of postmix syrup an employee can continue to siphon out of the soda machine. Tell you what tho, a glass of undiluted cola syrup will send u to the 18th dimension of diabetes fever dream flavour town

洪達寧

UC Santa Cruz mentioned! Go Banana Slugs!

Beth Straubel

had the in & out thing happen with a can of peas but instead of a caterpillar it was a little frog :( didn't eat the can obv but man was that rough

Vanessa Garibaldi

Asking if they accept crypto and then saying digital currency has “screwed” america is so bizzare… that guy is so far from reality just own debit like a normal person 😭

Vynnie

anyone think that JJ Cash guy was waiting for an instance where he could record the cashier for denying him food when trying to pay for cash? Like purposefully trying to pay with cash so he could complain about it?

Vynnie

also the idea that JJ wouldn't accept cash but would accept bitcoin is hilarious. and why does the guy use bitcoin but not a card??

Vynnie

its not even giving "old person that refuses to change with the times" kinda vibes like you'd expect, but "4chan basement dweller who hates the world trying to one up a random stranger and show everybody how smart he is" kinda vibes

Beau

To add to the "Jarvis diagnosis", it could the the raw vegetables thing but might also be a sensitivity to nightshade vegetables? So stuff like tomatoes and peppers (off the top of my head)

Haven

jarvis about the salad thing. i have gastroparesis and fiber makes it really bad and painful. maybe you should get an emptying study done to see if you have gastroparesis.

Sara Hilliger

Definitely relate to the food stuff Jarvis was talking about. Significant weight changes can really fuck with your head.

Perry Ritter

Okay, so former Papa John’s social media customer service person here. We used a third party app to filter in all of the SM complaints and messages. That response is 100% because the second picture glitched and they didn’t see the actual wings that were sent. Open for any and all questions.

Rye Washington

Man one time my partner our friend and I went to Taco Johns and we found a spider like embedded and cooked into our potato ole's. I know the logic of how likely that is to happen again but every time we go I think about it so hard I give myself a stomach ache and can't eat my food anyway :(

Sarah

bro wtf i thought i was going a little crazy when i sometimes sneakily get 3 pumps of vanilla wtf

Morgan

as a barista (not at starbs but at a drive thru competitor), i will say a drink like that isn’t hard to make. but oh my god that is so much sugar, i just can’t even imagine how sweet that is 😭

hayley

the guy not being able to pay cash reminds me of when i was checking someone out at a cash register and the computer froze up just as i was telling her the total. she handed me the cash, but the computer hadn't actually processed the transaction yet so i had to wait. i told her "just a moment sorry the computer froze up", and she's like "oh noo you might have to do the math in your head haha!" as if the only reason i was waiting was so the register would calculate the change??? like unfortunately the cash register is more than just a big calculator and i cannot just give you these items if they haven't been marked as sold in the computer. just crazy levels of selfishness and stupidity from some customers

morgan sage

To make Anastasia feel better: one time in my 9th grade drama class we were taking turns reading some book about the history of theatre aloud and idk why the word “pornography” was in this book but I’d never seen that word on paper before so I pronounced it “porno-graph-y” and the whole class laughed at me for the rest of the semester 🫠

bluebird

When I worked as a Starbucks barista we’d have a guy come through every night and this was his order: A short latte in a venti cup with an extra shot, caramel drizzle on the top and bottom, and whipped cream all the way to the top, and two pup cups. It doesn’t sound super complicated but when we handed it to him, he’d feel the weight and demand us to remake it without even trying it. We’d have to make this drink a minimum of two times every night and use at least one entire thing of whipped cream on him. And he was SO rude. I hated hearing his voice come over the intercom with that stupid order.

harmony

if that jimmy john video wasn’t staged, i doubt that customer is allowed to record? the whole situation was dragged out way longer than it needed to be. as a cashier, i don’t argue with people, i call the manager immediately. they’re paid to shut bs like that down real fast. not worth the energy trying to explain😭

Juliane Vo

I will say as a Starbucks barista I am on r/starbucks 💀💀💀 I’m just curious what the comrades are saying

AJ

The JJs customer was craaaazy like, "I can't wait to see you get fired when I tell your manager that you were enforcing a company policy!" Man, what do you think is happening here? You think he just doesn't want to count the money? You think he wanted to put effort into making a sandwich just to throw it away? Whether you pay or not, he isn't receiving that money; the only reason he would be incentivized to throw away a sandwich instead of giving it away is because someone told him he would lose his job if he gave away food for free. Who might that person be? Maybe... his manager???

Taylor Chadwick

i feel so seen when jarvis mentions midnight snacktime i’ve definitely been trying to kick that one

Max Parkin

God art school was horrific when it came to people bragging about their insane caffeine intake and lack of sleep 😭I swear artists, especially entertainment artists think horrible self care makes them a better artist

Tori

I've worked in the coffee industry for 10 years. I'm a coffee roaster and am SCA certified. I don't like seeing people shame others for the money they choose to spend on coffee. Something I've seen over the years is people wanting to make coffee at home to save money and then giving up because it doesn't "taste as good as the shop." This almost always concerns their home water quality and/or dialing in coffee-to-water ratios. It takes some effort to learn how to make coffee. Someone may buy a bottle of vanilla and an espresso machine and then get frustrated by the learning curve later. It isn't hard, but it isn't for everyone. Even if someone is a home brewer, they can still buy a coffee lol people should feel confident in making themselves a damn good cup of coffee at home and also happily pay to have a damn good cup of coffee made for them, especially when they want to try something new.

OneofDani

WHAT?! We don't get to see the school sandwich teased in the main ep? Now I'm beyond curious as to what was in the bun that needed blurring on YT

Catarina Erba

Former sbux barista here. As long as the woman who orders the 10 pumps of vanilla latte is kind and friendly to the baristas, we’d judge the drink but not her. We had plenty of regulars who’d order odd drinks (sometimes even in the “how does that even taste good?!” category), but were awesome people and some of my fave regulars. But the second you were a dick about how your drink was prepared we’re talking shit behind your back. (Plus we had a regular who’d get a venti skinny cinnamon dolce with 1/2 a shot of blonde espresso, 10 pumps of the sf cinnamon dolce syrup, and 8 sweet & lows, and would taste test it every time to see if we “made it right.” 10 pump vanilla lady’s drink is not even close to the worst abomination I had to make)

klaus ⁉️

i’m glad i’m not the only person who spent enough time in england to develop a lifelong fear of spiders living in my shoes

Rach

I always slice up my strawberries so they’re easier to eat and I found a full sized dead worm in a perfectly ripe strawberry and it definitely grossed me out but it’s not gonna stop me from eating strawberries LMAO but I will rip all my raspberries in half in fear of bugs/mold in the very inside OOPS

madz

glad to hear you guys are boycotting!! <33

Void WL

Yeah he’s been hoping for a situation where someone says cash isn’t accepted so he can joker laugh at the absurdity of money not being money. I mean his voice sounds stoned as well which has me noting him down as a certain type of online guy

Void WL

the JJs guy… his voice gives me a vibe that he owns a hideous rick and morty bong and mansplains philosophy at parties

Heather

I don’t know if you’ll ever see this Jarvis: I have IBS and McDonald’s is a safe food. Lettuce makes me violently ill. But spinach is okay. I wonder if changing the types of “healthy foods” your body can digest might help.

Bill Richardson

all lettuce or just restaurant lettuce? A lot of places spray their lettuce with an edible chem to keep it from wilting before use. It upsets me and my moms stomachs, so much so that my mom can actually smell it on the lettuce.

Heather

Ick!! I can definitely see why that could cause problems. For me it’s all lettuce, including organic and homegrown

Skiddly Winks

Same. Similarly, I hate how often I have to say the phrase "Sorry, I just work here and I have to follow company policies" bc people always assume that they can get you to bend the rules for em.

Skiddly Winks

I love how he enter's his Tate flow state lmao

Lee U

When I worked at a drive thru coffee place there was a regular who got 7 or 8 shots in a large latte with like 4 shots of flavor. Jacobs story blows mine out of the park goddamn

Lee U

I went to art school and I'm now a professional barista and I feel too seen

Lee U

I love when people forget that their food comes from the earth. You know, where bugs live.

hatto catto

hearing Spanish out in the wild (the wild = all the English language content I consume, so 98% of it) is like my sleeper agent phrase. I hear Spanish and I hyperfocus on the thing I'm watching

Michael Abernathy

aww Anastasia, thanks from a bug lover for taking care of that banana slug <3

Randomized Designs

I’m also an art girl who used to drink too much coffee. Like I could not function without caffeine I would be angry all day and have a headache. I’ve since stopped. Now I drink coffee like once or twice a week instead of 5 cups a day lol.

CealieBooBoo

I'm totally happy admitting that I'm addicted to caffeine. I'm not gaslighting myself at all. Lol can't stop, won't stop.

Lazarus

Re: 24 hour analogue clock at 39:20- I have one!! I have a 24 hour clock with hands!! It's very useful for me specifically and probably like 5 other people on earth.
