I'm trying so hard to understand what's happening in the musical but my hebrew is so bad I'm just picking out individual words

Lee U

The i'm trans now meme is so funny idk why I'm wheezing

Moby Doggy

I’m Minnesotan and I do NOT say Baeg! I only know like 3 MN who do. We do say cran though 😭😂

nakaka

this isn't lost media but it is a weird corporate musical, in the year 2000 Nintendo released the not hit musical Pokémon Live, which wasn't good and also accidentally canonized homophobia in the Pokémon universe. The villain song does hit though.

HxZero

Jack Black is a zionist btw

Elliot Rae

Whenever these regional dialect conversations come up, I completely forget how I naturally say the word. Do i say cran? Crayawn? I'll never know, because if I think about it, it vanishes.

Shelby Fawn

this episode had big “a succulent chinese meal?!” energy

Ginger

commenting here about the main ep, but I’m sorry you’re in a rut Jarvis. But if it’s any consolation I am in the same boat and at least you’re making ME feel better! Yippee!

Air Stratus

The windows xp musical reminds me of that weird period of american history where companies just commissioned internal musicals for their workers all the time. Weird phenomenon. If you ever get the chance to watch Bathtubs Over Broadway, I recommend it Also, re: the linguistics conversation, although there are a few small differences and regionalisms, the Sad Boys Crew tend towards West American English. Anastasia’s mention of Arizona being a weird case was interesting to me, since I remember a lot of friends and acquaintances mentioning their “Arizona Mush-Mouth” when I lived there. Anastasia’s pronunciation is a pretty good example of it: certain syllables are dropped or elided, essentially ‘mushing’ the sounds together

garbobarge

I love the way Anastasia pronounces crayon and orange.

Katze

I pronounce crayon like cran too! Weirdly though, my family doesn't

Aled

potion making is such a fundamental part of my childhood. mixing dirt soup outside, mixing every hand sanitizer scent I had etc...

Missy Story

In my experience, in Canada, we basically all say cray-on because in we also call “coloured pencils” “pencil crayons” and cray-on is closer to the French (which is why we call them pencil crayons) We do say “pop” too. Soda is specifically for soda water.

Ynaltor Collective

oml peeps is only 2 years older than me LMAO, everyone is in their 30s, it's kinda fun to know there's someone younger on the team

Malachy Hamilton

Why would Jordan force choke me like that 😭

Bingo TallHats

Currently repeating “crane. Cran? Crayawwn???” to myself and sounding insane for the same reason 💀 Waxy colour stick it is, my fate is sealed

Elliot Rae

It's been 3 days and I still don't know.

Alexis W

super unrelated but jarvis and jordan have you guys played blue prince yet

TrueLily

My online friends bully me for my MN dialect all the time 😭

Nix

Fun fact: windows XP was released to manufacturing on August 24, 2001, and Microsoft originally planned to use the slogan "Prepare to Fly", but had to scrap it when 09/11 happened

Haley Martin

What a particularly silly and goofy episode 😂💜

Amalie Lind Ravn

Eyy, we did the same thing in one of my linguistics classes! It was great :) having a linguistics teacher make fun of ways of speaking is wild though. Our whole first semester was just our teachers drilling "descriptivism not prescriptivism" into our heads. Like describe and analyse how language is used, don't judge it or tell people how to use it.

morrigan

does anyone else have issues listening to these on Patreon app? i try to download it on my phone, but the app store won't let me because i'm not on IOS 16, but when i try to go update, it tells me my phone is updated? when i try to listen off the app, it pauses every three minutes :(

vellie

Most everyone I know says “cran”

Nobrina

I know it was said with love when Jarvis mentions "do you think they can tell when were in a silly mood ?" but I NEED you guys to know it's always the best part of the podcast. There's nothing I love more than seeing a couple of friends getting excited about a current interest. Its always so sweet to see how excited everyone gets!

coop

my family’s dialect quirk is that my grandma, and by extension my mom and her siblings use lunch and dinner interchangeably, and supper is exclusively called supper. even growing up i knew this was unique, but in college i was told that when i call the late meal supper instead of dinner i sound fancier. which surprised me because my family is very rural midwest

Jori

As someone who does a lot of theatre let me just say that going into the audience is my number one LEAST favorite thing to do. Especially when you're on the alto line. Just hoping the people who are sitting near me while I'm dancing my heart out in the aisle enjoy the oddest part of harmony.

Julia Collins

I still want to know if Jarvis was following the Most Mysterious Song on the Internet which wound up being identified as Subways of Your Mind. That getting found felt so monumental but it did kind of get overshadowed by the US election the next day. But still!!! There are multiple versions of this song out now, and other songs by the band, when before we just had this one mysterious recording. I live for this

Aubrey Planitz

If there is going to be a basketball podcast, it needs to be called Sad Ballz

Spencer

I’m so glad to have exclusive content of my favorite podcasters: Jordan Johnson and Pit Ass

Hannah

I support Anastasia as a fellow "cran" sayer

Claire Federe

I’m from NW FL (and everyone knows the further north you go in FL the more southern it gets) and my Californian husbands makes fun of the way I pronounce things all the time. Now that I live in California my accent has faded but it comes back if I’m tired, talking fast, or if family visits. My coworkers call it my “swamp accent” 🫠 But yeah, Anastasia is crazy for pronouncing crayon that way 😂

meghan morris

I made “perfume" in the bathroom, too, haha. I did it in the sink tho, and we only had one bathroom for all 5 of us so… oops 😂

Victoria Marie

Every time somebody says "cray-on" is just sounds like "crown" to me. I cannot hear the difference unless somebody breaks down the syllables. Truly makes me feel insane.

Charlocke26

real ones know about chinese style baby
