Also! At 29:44. Firefighters (at least in a lot of places in California) need to be certified EMTs and a lot of them get their Paramedics licenses BECAUSE it’s easier to get into a fire department that way. (Source: I am an EMT in California). It’s also why you see Firetrucks and Ambulances together in a medical emergency. There are more Firetrucks with Paramedics than there are actual ambulances. So yes, they’re definitely more qualified than a lot of folks to give you medical care.

my favorite way to watch 911 is trying to guess what the emergency is going to be when a scene starts and I’m always wrong. I’m always haunted by that one where a biker was impaled by a stop sign like anything can AND will happen on that show. It’s truly insane and I wouldn’t have it any other way

Ok so I love procedural dramas. My autism finds the them comforting. My main passion was crime shows. And so many of them have wild stories that, unfortunately, I recognize from my interest in true crime. I would imagine medical and first responders shows would do the same. I am sure some concepts also are exaggerated for the high drama.

They changed it to this in the Canadian city I work in. I think before they just needed basic first aid training but now they all have to be EMT certified.

Guys, they are fire AND RESCUE 😂 both my dad and step-dad were volunteer fire fighters and they got called to motor vehicle accidents more than anything. The fire fighters are the ones that have the jaws of life.
