Finally someone admits that the hate against pit bulls is like racism!!!! I’ve always felt like people refer to them as inherently dangerous, similarly to how black people are often viewed. So in the US at least, establishments and business etc are allowed to ask "Is this a service animal, yes or no" and "what are some of the tasks is it trained to do" but they are absolutely not allowed to ask any questions about anything related to whatever condition or disability you have or anything like that.

I've went from being terrified of dogs, to being gravely irritated by the two dogs a family member owns cause they're constantly on a hair trigger and will bark and growl at the slightest noise. It's not their fault, from what I've heard, you need to train puppies early on to be chill and if you don't you're basically screwed.

I'm so fucking passionate about the unpredictability stuff you talked about during the pet store bit. My dog is deaf and blind, which means he can't recieve normal dog cues. It's like yelling "fuck off" and they just keep walking at you. Hell, I'd get scared. Even for the sweetest dogs, they become much more unpredictable. It's never been a problem, but because of the risk, I have to be SO aware, and it baffles me that some people just ARENT.

I hate the pitbull discrimination! I have 2 and they are just big dumb babies . Sometimes they can have a temper if they are male but a good owner will be able to train that out of them.

As someone whos allergic to dogs and not necessarily fond of their company most times, this subreddit is diplorable. I was hoping itd be about anti-cloning or something but its just hating dogs? As long as a dog is trained well enough to know what "down" means i truly do not mind them being in public spaces. Some of my favorite 3rd places always have dogs. As much as ive been inconvenienced by dogs im way more likely to be inconvenienced by some guy with loud opinions.

in my experience big “scary” dogs are usually the sweetest and trained the best. honestly i think it’s bc owners care about their dogs and know that even smaller signs of aggression in public could get them put down so they make sure they won’t be reactive before taking them out. i also haven’t seen many people get pit bulls as accessories like they do with other breeds so their owners usually care about them and don’t put them in situations that would stress them out and cause bad behavior

Watching this episode with my dog curled up beside me :) 100% agree with Jordan that it's very offputting whenever someone makes hating something innocuous their whole personality. We have several friends who don't like / are scared of dogs and it's totally fine. If they come over, we put the dog in another part of the house, and they don't spend any amount of time fixating on their dislike of dogs.

I like how must of the examples with the dogs that people are being annoying about is because it’s an IRRESPONSIBLE PERSON. I love animals and have a dog but get annoyed when people in my neighborhood put their dog outside who barks and scares my dog and they leave him outside for a long long time. I love kids and want to have them but get annoyed when a toddler is BLASTING YouTube at a quit restaurant. I have an issue with rude irresponsible people? Not what they are irresponsible with. It’s the same as going to R/ KIA free because someone parked over the line and scratched my car. I’m not mad at Kia I’m mad at the person who did that? I don’t get the hating children or pets when most of the issues are because the parents or pet owners are being irresponsible inconsiderate people.

I was actually given free pup cups as a kid! We didn’t have a dog, it was a small town and I wanted whip cream in a cup :) whenever my mom bought coffee she’d get me one, the baristas knew me by name and would apparently just give me them without a word sometimes 😭

I don’t hate kids or people who have them, but I have experienced extreme pressure from doctors and my family surrounding my uterus health and my ability to reproduce. Even going so far as to refuse or withhold treatment that would improve my quality of life, There’s systemic issues for sure but there’s also some nasty pipelines people can fall down

I've def had my fair share of the weird strangers who have, for some reason, has something to say about you not having children, I assume it's more likely to happen to those who get read as afab. That said, r/childfree is... some different horrible thing... not to be interacted with, but r/dogfree is 100% nonsense for mean people. It's not because they don't like dogs, but because what's the point? Why choose to make life worse by defining your existence by what you dislike?

Idk about clowning of *all* the no kids people, cause esp as an AFAB person, I was being asked about kids and being a mother [esp. 10-18 yrs old] And if I say I don't want to, people disagree. Yea, there's definitely some... weirdos on the childfree subreddit who think children shouldn't be allowed to exist in public at all, that shit was cringe lmao. But on the other hand the sub did help me with education on female reproductive options and immensely helped me find a doctor for a sterilization procedure who took me seriously as a grown woman and didn't post a bunch of 1950s style "but what about your husband? what if you divorce and re-marry a guy we are now constructing with our imaginations who wants kids?" hoops. Sometimes people just don't want kids and have known for a long time.

I will say, I grew up in Chicago, but moved to Dallas last year and I was astounded by how much acquaintances are disappointed when I casually mention that I don’t want kids. Before moving here, the only ppl that cared were elderly family members. Now, it’ll come up in small talk and people are genuinely offended!

We used "purpling" to describe freshmen that were all doing the do. Just the act of a bunch of people who were all trying to have s** with one another. I think it was originally purpling because girls dorms were pink and boys were blue and when you mix them its purple, also so RA's or whatever didn't immediately know what they were doing, but I caught on pretty quick. :V

i actually do not like dogs and i do feel like i have valid reasons for that but they’re all personal reasons that revolve around why i personally don’t like to be around them or want to have one - NOT bc they’re like inherently evil creatures that shouldn’t be loved or in society. dogs have an integral place in society and i’m really happy for people that have and love their dogs. i’ll pet a dog and love on a friends dog, i just personally don’t want one and have never felt pressured to have one
