As an Aussie, I've never heard the term 'Seppies' for Yanks, but we do use the term 'pom' and 'pommie' for people from England - I think it comes from the "10 pound pom" scheme where people from England could migrate to Australia for £10 after WW2. I’m australian and my Dad still uses rhyming slang. It’s because lots of cockney people migrated to Australia during colonisation. He says things like dog and bone (telephone), dead horse (tomato sauce), and apples and pears like you said. I’m really used to it but sometimes people don’t understand what he said 😭
