Btw there are some videos called World of Rement on YouTube that explain a bit of the lore about the world lol the first four you can watch since you finished Volume 1 then you can watch the next Three after Volume 2 then the rest after Volume 3

Maybe you could let him watch the show and discover these things on his own instead of explaining things that will become known later on.

It's so cool you noticed the Pinocchio stuff this early! Most people clock it in volume 2 because of something in particular that Penny does and says, but you're right that there are other hints, especially the strings on her weapon. Most character allusions are mixed in terms of what they influence. For some it just shows in their visual design. For some, it impacts anything from backstory, to personality, to character arc, plus a mix of multiple things. Sometimes it's very in your face or obvious (like Ruby being Little Red Riding Hood), but for others it's much more subtle. A few characters (I think only three) share an exact name with their allusion, one of whom you've already clocked (the others haven't appeared yet). Most characters are based off of fictional or mythological characters, with just a few based on real people, like Jaune, who you guessed right on. Besides him, I think there's only a couple of others based on real people (one is a historical figure and one is an author). It's fun seeing you guess who people are! I think you'll be able to guess who Glynda Goodwitch is pretty soon if you haven't already.
