I think the people in this series are just complicated and well written characters. It is not so much that everyone is 'fake.' Much like people in real life, not everything about them is on the surface! I personally like that about this series.

Although, I agree it is certainly dramatized to make an interesting story of course!

Very late to comment on that so im gonna do it for the one that havent watched it. The anime especialy the first season is all mixed up, for exemple this scene with Ichinose come after the whole Sudou incident and also the scene with the camera and the plan to bait out the class C wasnt done with Horikita but with Ichinose. In the books Ichinose is way more important and close to Ayanokoji. Also the season 1 realy try to make Horikita more likable and Kushida more detestable. But actualy Ayanokoji think that Kushida is way more interesting than Horikita. (Also at the start Horikita force Ayanokoji to work with her by being violent and threatening to destroy his school life)
