In Star Channel 34, every girl had a dedicated wardrobe page, with new outfits added for each new episode. You could play dress-up there, but it usually didn’t affect the main story during your first playthrough. For your outfit to show up, you had to access the particular event from the Holo-Archive menu, which became available after completing the episode once.

The problem was that your outfit choice would always overwrite the story outfit and often made no sense story-wise. So I added an option to choose either CUSTOM or STORY outfits when replaying the event. This created quite a lot of extra work for me and even produced some outfit bugs that were easy to miss and required additional testing.

Now the question: how many of you actually used that feature?

And I’m not talking about playing dress-up in the wardrobe outside the story—I know that part was fun. I’m asking: how often did you actually replay the episode from the Holo-Archive and use the CUSTOM outfit option?

First time in the many years I’ve spent subbed where I’ve gotten an akabur patron notification on a Wednesday

Michael M.

At least as far as I can recall

Wirefull

In my dreams, the custom outfit changes the dialogues during the revisit

Ace

I used the future, but not in every one of them, just in most of them.

GamerLegend09

I did it with every single outfit, in alll the Episodes 😏😏😏😈

EroSanin

I almost never used that feature, mostly due to not changing anything in scene, if it would give some easter eggs that would change a lot. Also this toggle is not very UI friendly.

Gondolor

I think that Feature was nice but Not a must have. For me i never rly used it because i liked it more when the Outfit fits the Story and is a Part of it Feels more organic that way

captain fantasy

Always used the dress up menu but rarely really needed the outfits to be available within the actual cutscenes

James Shmo

Yea I'm okay with having the dress up menu but it not reflecting in the scenes

Tehir Hidrin

Indeed, we shall mark the 3rd of December as a new holiday for all of the faithful

DMG Entertainment

I replayed a few special scenes in the custom outfits. Don't get me wrong, I loved all the outfit, but I noticed some of the bugs and I don't think the extra work for you was a benefit. Now it might be time to replay SC34.

Jon Hansson

Nerver really used it. Don't spend time and effort on it if you ask me. I a default guy

Dug

It probably has high value to have it affect what "uniform" she turns up in when summoned for any kind of training or selection..... and what she is wearing when she reports back from a mission.... and maybe some of that specific content that gives off that vibe. Not much value in entire stories having the option to be seen in different outfits... Where everyone is going back and forth about the ship being attacked. It would be "culturally significant" to go back and watch Ashelin instructing her troops or reporting to her father in that topless cadet uniform... but not much of the typical stuff.

Carsten

Imo it's better to spend the effort on other things. I rarely used it, and when I tried it I felt it became a bit immersion breaking. Maybe you could add the option to a few of the scenes that people are the most likely to replay *wink wink*, and in those cases just give the player the option to choose the alternative outfit for that scene when starting it.

pro7h3us

As fun as it was, i wouldn't mind if you used the time otherwise spent on this feature on something like more CGs or few more scenes instead.

Meat

I rarely dislike an outfit, so I think it's more important for the outfit to match the context that the scene was made for.

Varsh

I love having the options of multiple outfits. However, in a cutscene I prefer to have the stock outfits to see the author's intent. If the outfit doesn't impact the story and feels out of place, it's value goes down for me for that that scene.

Henrik

If it was such a hustle, don't do it again. A special wardrobe room for custom outfits is fine for me (Unless it's WitchTrainer 2.0 😈) 😇

MUPLUR

We are talking about Star Channel 34!!! What year is this?

Cley Faye

I voted "almost never" but I'm not too sure. But if I had to provide input, I'd say I'd be okay if some cutscenes had forced outfits if they really make sense for that cutscene, and for smaller cutscenes it's like whatever. It would be appreciated, but really not a buzzkill if this feature was missing.

Trevor Bond

I used it, but it wouldn't break the universe for me if you didn't end up in the game. It was quirky but if it's a headache, save yourself that and just have custom uniforms in 'base' areas.

Flaxx

I used it, because it was there, but it's not really something I'd miss terribly if it was gone.

Deonast

yes might like to see that in WitchTrainer 2.0 Gold Deluxe Definitive Edition with all the DLC

Deonast

My Dirty little secret (don't tell anyone) I never finished SC34 probably got 2/3 through and I rebuilt my computer and forgot to backup game saves and I haven't had time since to go play it again (though I want to). That said if i was to mess around with the clothing it would pretty much be in the warddrobe or only if it impacted the story in a meaningful way. If it leads to inconistency with the story then no I don't think there is a lot of value there and sounds like a lot of work. How about this idea. Perhaps a dress up scenario where the outfits change the result of what the character does, but seperate to the main game play where the outfits are where the story dictates only.

Deonast

Hmm what's the bet Akabar already did that idea and I didn't get up to it in the game :)

Nepurin

I used it few times, but mostly I prefer story outfits anyway. Sometimes seeing an ultra slutty Ashley acting like she won't do anything was immersion breaking. I love playing dress-up but as a late-game treat, or, if the outfits are fitting the vibe of the girl's training level

P

I liked the story outfits so much I never felt the need. I liked the outfits in the changing room with the reactions and side scenes. I prefer immersive/context specific outfits that make sense for the story

legojohn

I didn't know this was an option.

akabur

In other words you enjoyed the game just fine without it! Noted! XD

akabur

I feel the same. Man, I wish I had asked you guys for your opinion on this ages ago. -_-

akabur

Noted. I feel the same way to be honest.

akabur

Well since SC34 was released/update episodically, you can always start from any episode and the game will just unlock all the previous episodes and outfits automatically. No need to replay from the beginning if you lost the saves.

akabur

I should have asked you guys for your opinion long time ago. T_T

akabur

It’s funny, because this is how I felt for the most part, but I thought you guys would be against the idea of abandoning a feature that existed in the earlier episodes. I should have just hosted a poll like this many years ago. -_-

Deonast

I probably should do from the beginning anyway, as a refresher. Good educational material can be reused many times.

Peter Schlund

Never used it. Save your time Akabur

akabur

That's actually funny XD

akabur

Got it. I feel the same way to be honest -_-

akabur

Yeah, that's what I plan to do from now on. Will be focusing on the CG's more.

akabur

Noted! Also thank you for the outfit choice before the scene suggestions, it sounds interesting actually. I'll think on that.

akabur

100% agree with you. The original idea was to have these extra costumes as sort of "extra" skins for the characters. But it really does not male much sense when I look back at it now. -_-

akabur

I should have polled you ages about this ages ago. Oh well, better late than never. Moving forward I will have more time on working on extra CGs instead of this :)

akabur

Yeah, it did bug out sometimes and that was another "opportunity" to waste time and try to catch all the bugs. Alright, I kind off feel better now knowing that moving forward I can streamline the process a bit and not worry about this.

akabur

Got it. This is probably I will be doing things moving forward. It gonna cut the development time.

akabur

The funny thing is I think the same way. *sigh* I should have hosted this poll many years ago.

akabur

Ha-ha-ha! I knew I could count on you to be the 1% of the people who bothered with this.

akabur

I see. And it makes me happy because I did spend many hours on it. But from the looks of it the general public didn't really care much for that feature, and not adding it in the future episodes would save me some development time so I will probably be doing exactly that.

akabur

I think the proper way to tackle this would be just have the ability to choose and outfit during the story and have that affect the story.

Jon Hansson

CG and Chibis is the way forward! Moar chibis!

Wirefull

But what a burden of a work to pull that one out...
