072 - Back to normal. (Well, sort of). (Patreon)

Hello, bros! This is me - AKABUR! And you are reading another Monday Post! Yes, I am still around! Pretty amazing, right? Yes, so amazing... ... ... I imagine the Guinness World Records people will be knocking on my door any moment now.

La Blue Girl. First of all, how do you like these quick pencil drawings? I dug them up from my "old scans" folder. I did these while I was still streaming and also doing that weird thing where I would make a video of me making a 15 minute (I think it was 15) drawing every day for a month. I wonder if anyone still remembers that I did that :) In the long run it was a terrible idea because between looking for references, setting up the camera, editing and uploading the video it usually took almost entire first half of my working day every day. But it was fun ^_^

My health. So, yeah, I am actually not 100% back yet. I am felling good enough to work, but still can't really work as many hours a day as I wish I could. Basically there is no way I could have a finished episode today, but to make up for that, how about I do a really stupid thing and give you my thoughts on when I actually hoping to release it? Are you ready? So, if all goes well Episode 07 will be out next Monday. There you go, (now I jinxed it and it's definitely not going to happen :)

I miss streaming. That's just something I realized going through that "old scans" folder... I miss streaming and ending up just chilling in the chat with you guys instead of getting any work done :) Honestly, those were some good times for me. I need to figure out a way to bring that back...

New Profile Pic. I am genuinely surprised by the number of people who yelled "new profile pic" at me in the comments. (In case you didn't notice it was a "toxic" bear before but now it's a Mr. Positivity bear. (Don't worry inside I am still the same though) ^_^ It wasn't just the profile pic too, I also reworked my Patreon front page. And plan to keep my Monday Posts completely devoid of edgy jokes and half-naked babes for a while. Basically it will be Family Friendliness X 100. Yes, it's boring I know, but I need to keep it like that for the time being. Anyway, all this ties in into something else that I don't want to talk about just yet, but will when the time is right. :)

No Worries. The subject matter of my work will not change. I just need to put on this "SFW" mask a little tighter for now just in case. Episode 07 is coming soon and it's going to be glorious, and I already have something exciting planned for Episode 08, so it's business as usual here in the cave. Had to slow down for a bit because of the health crap, but for now I am almost 100% back to normal, so it's all good, bros. ^^

The work. It's been 5 weeks since Ep.6's public release. (6 weeks since the patrons-only release). Still counting to keep myself in check. Episode 07 is coming soon.

I even blessed you when you sneezed in the middle of an video :D.. Your golem drawing stream is my first fav ( It was SFW enough to watch in public places ). The way you drew the trees and rocks on the golem is how I mesmerized in your pencil drawing. That's how I wanted to draw. mesmerizing pencil drawing. Very much looking forward to the streams when you gained your 100% Health Points.. Take enough rest for us :)

A while back i made the suggestion that you could show some behind the scenes stuff, stuff that you do while making an episode, maybe you can incorporate that to when you start streaming. I hope you start streaming soon, i never caught you live but i have seen your vods, it's interesting to see you working even though i know you barely get any work done. Also, you will be releasing episode 07 right after my exams for this semester ( ofc if everything goes to plan) perfect time to blow off some steam. :D I wish you the best health akabur!

Glad you're almost back, take your time to get 100% ^^ Streaming was cool, I didn't have the chance to watch many of them but they were great. And yeah, your pencil drawings are cool! La Blue Girl deserves to be more known, like many other old or less mainstream characters. Could be great to give them some exposure, even if it's short.

I wanted to ask, will the dance and strip gifs be redrawn by Jasmine and Ashlyn? They are very much out of the general style and do not look up to par. No claim to the artist, but still they should be replaced.

I should've guessed you'd know about La Blue Girl, that series is rife with both good smut and good laughs; the drawing looks so accurate, it's lovely! :D The Fubuki episodes and the whole extra-colourful "Returns" OVA from 2001 caught my attention long ago, I found it an odd choice to end a hentai with a universe-shattering cliffhanger, but it definitely is memorable. xD I'll never forget stumbling upon a low-quality clip of the Fubuki/Gym Teacher scenes from the original OVA and thinking "What the hell, anime Nyssa and Tegan? ...I'm down for this." Haha. If one day you decide to include something La Blue related in Star Channel 34, you've got my support. All in all, rest well, hope you get better soon! :3

Stay on track to get healthy! So, you're working on setting the 'most weekly posts' record, or the 'most time spent being Akabur' record? lol. You could always set up a day to stream once or twice a month as a sort of chill and wind down thing! Gotta reward yourself and keep things fun!

My Dailymotion videos? Seriously? For some reason knowing that makes me feel warm and cozy inside ^^ I am not even kidding, those videos are so old that they bring up a strong nostalgia feeling in me. Honestly lately I've been feeling like I should start getting back to my roots in all sorts of way. Hopefully I will be able to host a stream soon, or maybe record another drawing video or something. Thank you for motivating me to do that :) As for that "Drawing an Element of Earth (Golem) with AKABUR" video, thank you for making me rematch it and, again, making me feel like recording something similar again :) Anyway, thank you for your support and for drawing all those amazing episode covers for me COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE I must add. "Family friendliness X 100" to me sounds like Patreon tightened their definitions of what they allow and don't allow, again. If I'm right, blink twice. It wouldn't surprise me, another creator I support almost got banned because they changed the rules on him without warning. But, that's how E-commerce works, I'm afraid. Anyway, it's more important to take care of yourself than get work out, don't push quantity over quality. Not that you ever do, but I'm just making a point. Stay chillin', my bro

You would be surprised how much "showing behind the scenes stuff" actually entails. Realistically speaking I can stream me inking something every now and then, but anything beyond that would mean more work for me and longer development cycles for the updates and I can't have that OTL... But I am happy you are interested in stuff like that. Don't get me wrong it's supper fun for me to share stuff like that too... ^^ Also best of luck with your exams!

Yeah, that's the thing with the streams: not everyone can catch them live. Time difference and all that. Also I am surprised so many people even know about La Blue Girl at all. That cartoon was a big part of my "childhood", I honestly still remember jerking of to that VHS tape. LOL XD Also about "less mainstream characters", you have any in mind?

Yeah that was the plan actually, but of course it didn't work out... So it seems like there will be another week worth of wait. Sorry -_- Yeah, I know what you mean about the gifs. They look that way because I always insist on keeping the animation frames count to the minimum and DAHR always listens to my strict demand but Pickle (second animator) not so much. As a result his animations look way more fluid and stand out... I can't afford redrawing things like that so it's not in the plans. Not for the moment at least. Sorry. My priority is dishing out updates at a reasonable pace -_-

Yeah I am trying to figure out the a proper balance between developing characters properly and adding new ones. But maybe I should just add a few side-sort-of-characters that would not necessarily have a lot of story events but would just be there to participate in events every now and then. It's been a while since I added a new girl, so the pressure is building :)

It depends on the situation I think. It's important for Jasmine to be dominant even though she is a sub. And Ashelin sort of of dominant by default without making a big deal out of it. Dunno... I don't think there is a clear Sub or Dom in the roster at the moment ^^

Well it depends: characters from H-anime or regular? old (before 2000) or more recent? If I was to name some, I could say girls from Beat Angel Escalayer or Makai Tenshi Djibril for H, and for family friendly shows girls from Yu-Yu-Hakusho (including Koto and Yuri, the announcers of tournaments). But those are examples, I can do some research if you want and maybe it'll bring back characters that were once well-known but became somewhat unheard of new generations like Ashelin or old-school April. (no time difference problem for me, just too slow to realize stream was on)
