First of all: Ow, my heart. Second of all: The ominous thunder at the end in the heavy silence also really gets me, reinforcing Zeus' hand in Odysseus' choice without absolving him of it. (Especially after that eagle flying over his head into the sky....)

I love this song because of the harsh reality it gives, but the noises from the baby, the look of the soldiers, and the tears of the mother, is more than enough to add to the trauma. I love it, but I don’t think I’ll be able to listen to this song again with out hearing a baby. 10/10 No Notes!

Neal... Neal I'm at work. You can't have me crying right now. 😭 Watching Hector's wife crying and reaching for her son knowing his fate was heartbreaking. Zeus being in the background making sure Odysseus goes through it. Not even caring the choice was a heavy burden of him to do.

You recommended a buddy and tissues and, despite listening to this song and watching several other animatics of this song, I *still* wasn't ready. 😭 Adding in the baby cries, giggles, cooing, and other noises was diabolical and Ody's empty hands and howling wind from the top of Troy's walls was the finishing blow. 💔🥲 All that to say: WELL DONE! HOLY MOLY! So many little details, one of which I caught on first watch being a bird overhead that I went "Is that...?" only for what I assume to be Zeus in eagle form (or an eagle sent as Zeus' emmisary of sorts?) being directly shown seeing as how much of a role he played in the song prior to this one. Just!!! BRAVO! 👏👏👏 Thank you so much for your hard work and continuing to share your art, overall talents, and vision for this musical with all of us! 💖✨️

Oooh that was a gut punch to the feelings, the added baby sounds, the way you focused tightly on the visual of just Odysseus and the baby for most of it, SAYING FORGIVE ME TO HIS MOTHER AS HE CARRIES HER BABY TO DIE, covering him like a shroud only for him to waken and not make it nearly so easy for Odysseus as it would be to look away from a sleeping child, and then - FUCK showing his empty hands. FUCK.

Saw this notification pop up on my phone and immediately heard Mortius' voice screaming your name in my head xD I really really love Odysseus doing a walk for little baby Astyanax, and the other soldiers all being included just like they are in the song!! Polites wanting to save the infant but Eurylochus stopping him. The "forgive me" part being aimed at the baby's mother was sooo clever (and GUT-WRENCHING) but what actually got me to cry was the baby's last little giggle/flail as it woke from being covered up and the devastating silence that followed ;-;. Anyways, I basically said all that to say thank you for ruining my freshly applied eyelash serum lol. 20/10, definitely watched again!!

I'm starting to think any time an animator wants to do "Just A Man", Zeus whispers into their ears and goes, "make the baby cuter, make them suffer" because there's no reason why I'm so torn about something that I've seen a million times over. That was beautifully tragic The safety baby Hector felt, Odysseus‘ pained expressions, Hector‘s last movements and Ody opening his eyes because it was too hard to witness 😭 Great job Neal!

The baby noises make it so much worse bc when you listen to the song it’s just Ody singing and it’s not hitting. But then you add in the baby noises and the crying and the babbling and suddenly it hits harder than Polyphemus making pancakes
