Content

Patreon has taken to sending me messages about needing to post even right after I post stuff.  Which is fine, I guess.  I mean they refuse to implement a decent gallery system so you can easily see the content you're paying for, but whatever, I mean it's not like we aren't all paying them to just let us look at stuff we want...

I worry about spamming you guys with junk even though it takes me so long between posts.  I could just slap up whatever random junk I'm doing but I worry that it will devolve into me blogging here rather than getting things done.  I mean my tendency to ramble when I'm feeling anxious is already on full display on the comic itself.

Anyway, here's a sketch of Alex with her bang cut short, or maybe cut normal would be more accurate.  As I've said before, I always draw her actual face so that there's enough skull and the emotions of her mouth match.  I also think it's important for a character to be more than just a haircut.  If Alex changed her hairstyle she still needs to be Alex.

I don't know how much of stuff like this is something you will be willing to tolerate, or possibly even enjoy, but LMK in the comments.  Maybe You'll love my random margin sketches I do that don't become actual comic panels.

I mean, worst case is folks just skin over it, yeah? At least speaking for me, I'm not gonna get mad at random extra sketches and/or rambles.

You have such unique designs for your characters that even if you change their hairstyles or outfit they are still recognizable. In a way I feel like that makes them more real

Don't rush because the platform wants you to. I think everyone has been good with your schedule. I love the comic, and the drawings here are really cool too. I want to see the best you do, and you do that on your own time, not some algorithm.

I enjoy seeing sketches and stuff like this. Though maybe it's just the OLED display on my phone or my eyes (I've got a slight red/green color blindness/spectrum shift), but the red on that background color on this specific image does something weird to my eyes. It almost seems to pop out of the screen with some 3D effect and my eyes have trouble focusing on it.

Take the time you need to get your art as you want it to be. Patreon should keep their collective nose out of it, if we weren't happy with how you work we wouldn't be backing you in the first place. A random sketch is certainly not going to annoy me, it's always interesting to see something of the process.

I like the sketch, but I support the comic so that it doesn't stop, not so much for extra perks. By the way, I'm glad to hear you found something that makes the allergy symptoms less bad!

My support isn't for the patreon extras. It's to help you continue work on your comic. As for Patreon's nag letters? Truck them. :)

That is a very happy smile on her face. I like.

Do what you want as far as patreon posts. I've read your comic since it was black and white so its good. As far as Alex's haircut goes she can do what she wants with her hair. People can cut their hair or do it differently. Jo can get a mowhawk, Mike can braid his beard, I mean its all up to your headcannon really.

I concur with many of you. I don't care about scheduled regularity as long as I can follow the BF cast in their shenanigans. As for the system, I wouldn't dream of expecting them to actually add value. It's a commercial venture after all. Stats brokering, then their percentage. Very symptomatic: That recent "Updates to Patreon’s Terms of Use" JM _not_ actually linking to said terms at all, but to a tracker.

<i>"...random margin sketches"</i> Hey, Sergio Aragones made a good living doing those for what, over 40 years? In addition to assigned pages and whatnot. Part of the reason I'm here looking at your work is to see the stuff you <i>don't</i> put into the comic. So, SPAM away; we'll still be here!

We enjoy your work, but Patreon is to support artists, not burden them. Post stuff you make, and 'random margin sketches' are just fine. Ignore Patreon nagging you.
