Hey Primos!

Today we are wrapping up our 4 part episodes of Run BTS! It's BTS Picnic Part 4. And what better way to close out this out then with a singing contest?

This is going to be fun. The guys team up to see who will have the highest score. Then it's on to some poem readings. Some sweet moments today.

I forget sometimes now these guys are really your first foray into korean content. So karaoke, or noraebang as its called in korean, almost always has a scoring system. No one really knows the metrics. OR they don't say. Often the better sung/rapped songs get lower points, but not always. It's hilarious but the mystery makes the machines popular for games because you can't predict the outcome by choosing certain songs or singers. Also the reverb is part of the experience so they always keep it.

The poems 😭😭😭 This was around when the boys were having a rough time and even considering disbanding but army didn't find out until way later during the MAMA awards speech 🥺 you can tell in their poems that they had a serious heart to heart about how they feel as a team ♡♡♡ im so glad they decided to stay together while also prioritizing their health 💜

I'm sure Xen will fill you in with the small history surrounding Run BTS. These young men and their staff did not realize how much the fans would really like these shows. It was only supposed to be one season (10 episodes), but even the staff like having 'downtime' and do other activities with BTS, thus continuing the series. I think they talk about it in several places too.

the last episode of season 2 aired the 24th july 2018 and the first episode of season 3 the 1st january 2019. so it was a 5 month break.

For context, this was filmed sometime around spring-ish of 2018 when they were still in the midst of considering disbandment, hence why their letters all talk about being together, past memories and not wanting this to end. V's poem about things not being a big deal, came from his dad. If he was down about something and talked to his dad, this is what his dad would impart on him, that it was ok, it wasn't a big deal. And V in turn, used this phrase with his members. In a way, consoling them and easing their minds about whatever they were fretting about.

Hi CCW! Based on episode 57, it took 4 months before Run BTS Season 3. The episodes of Run BTS keeps getting better and better, you'll enjoy them more and more - I promise :) As you can see the production grew, the camera and the editing. It's really fun and cool seeing them grow. BTW, Jimin's Smeraldo Garden Marching Band MV just released, hope you'll add it to your schedule soon hehe. It's really a good song for ARMYs, and it really amazes me how they prepared and film a lot of contents for ARMYs. Anyways, thank you for the reaction! BORAHAE!

Just a reminder that when Hobi originally joined BTS he was a singer before switching to rapper. When he’s not goofing off, J-Hope has a really pretty voice. Daniel called it! Suga will complain and whine, but as soon as the song starts he’s wailing. Love it. Fyi, You probably won’t remember, but in the Tae/Suchwita episode, Suga quotes Tae’s promise to carry “rock” Suga with him in his next life during the introduction. The sentiment is so sweet because I think Tae truly believes he’ll do this. He believes in angels and his grandma watching over him and has talked before about destiny, so this is right up his alley The poems they write are completely on point with each of their personalites, so I love each of them, but Yoongi, Tae, and Joonie’s always make me a little emotional.

It’s the same just different translations depending what you watched the episode on. Same with sugas here it was translated to “I’m glad” but on the run bts YouTube channel (unofficial) it’s “what a relief”

I was already an army at this time, we loved Tuesdays because of run BTS man those were the days, 2018 was a really busy time for BTS it was also one of the toughest years for them, on a year end award show Jin mentioned they almost disbanded but pulled through so their messages for each other here definitely hits differently 🥹 I’m so glad they have each other

Suga talk about the shadow in “interlude: shadow” (what Summer recall is correct!) and I think that when suga said he is doing some songs and he want them to be one in this letter, it’s maybe this song because the timeline is make sense. Interlude shadow was intended to be after map of the soul: persona album and be an album itself but unfortunately was put in map of the soul: 7 instead. *sorry for my english 😭😭😭*

Throughout Run BTS, there're few breaks: ep1-11, almost a whole year later ep 12- 22; ~5mths after ep 23- 57; ~5mths later ep 58-156; ~10mths later started the special episodes series with about half of them were pre-filmed before Jin's enlistment. While ARMYs would miss them & really want the episodes to continue with no break, it's better for them to have a break, and not stress themselves while they have all the promotions & tours going on. BTS singing karaoke is the best! While most idols try to look cool/dreamy & show off their perfect vocals, BTS never hide their chaotic side & just scream their lungs out 🤣 🐰JK's theme has always been Gold, this poet refers to time with the members as his golden years, him as the "Golden maknae", his solo album Golden. 🐹Tae's one is so heartwarming yet so funny, he also wrote with his dialect! CUTE! 🐤Jimin's poet is so sweet. Him reading it shyly, PRECIOUS! Many people say the way Jimin express himself is very sincere, easy to understand & relatable - exactly what the members said about this poet. 🐨RM's one made me tear up... What can I say... he's a deep thinking & an excellent writer. Though he's not the eldest, he leads the group & remember each member's growth. 🐿️Hobi is always a sunshine & makes everyone happy. 😺Suga's poet, you can tell it's from him, just like his lyrics. I beg the members had their hardship, struggles and exhaustion from the tours at the back of their minds, and this poet would remind them they have each other (I'm not crying) 🐹Jin... the twist - Jimin said what I wanna say LOL. He just can't stop himself from be funny XD But he expressed well his love towards the member & his respect to RM's leadership.

during the time when this episode was filmed, it was an unfortunate event where they were thinking of disbandment and were going through tons of hardships. 2018 overall was a mess for them emotionally and mentally, but successfully they were doing great in terms career. i’m just so astonished how they were able to pretend it was not when now after admitting it these days, they do look tired and sad at most cuts.

hobi’s singing voice is very nice actually. he has done a lot of backing vocals for bts and his own music. i really enjoy hearing him sing. like you said, for poems and lyrics more in depth translations give you a taste of how beautiful they actually are. someone linked a translation to their poems, i hope you get to read them ☺️

the j-hope switch is a urban legend that has been in the fandom for so long that some consider it true. J-hope joined because of his dancing but there was never any switch from singer to rapper. His position is a group was never a lead singer or anything.

Ok, I should have specified when he joined Bighit instead of when he joined BTS. I vaguely know what you’re referring to-the story that he swapped when some other member joined the group. What I’m talking about is when he was still a trainee. He’s spoken before (fan cafe/interview/live?- I don’t remember) about thinking that he would debut as a dancer and singer, but then after he joined BTS it became his dream to debut as a dancer and rapper. Yes, Hobi is a really great singer, however, when he started as a trainee he started as a rapper since they wanted to make a hip hop group, after namjoon, yoongi and hoseok where already signed bang pd wanted the group to be an idol group, the rumor about him wanting to sing or switching positions with Taehyung was made up by a Youtube channel who used to spread misinformation

NO ONE can sing and dance like BTS. How energetic they were during karaoke, but still sang on key. Love this episode, and V’s father always use to tell all them “it’s no big deal” which is why they related well with his poem.

They had to end that season because they had to rest. This was during the time they were really overwhelmed. And, it was a good thing that they had that rest. This was a fun RUN BTS episode for them, wherein the staff just let them play and just enjoy each other's company. I cried when they were reading their poems. :(

So I think you mentioned/I saw a comment mention about how this retreat was part of the group relaxing together because it was a stressful time for them, but that is why they paused shooting RUN BTS at this time too. It was during the Fake Love era, or while they were prepping for fake love, and that's why their poems have a bit of a bittersweet feeling to them? a lot of reminiscing, talking about being together, the pressures they're experiencing. I can't remember where this was said, but a few years after this as they continued to open up about 2018 and how truly close they got to disbanding, I swear I saw multiple members say they were convinced at the time of shooting these episodes that they would be the last ones ever released. It really makes me feel some type of way watching them back now, and hearing what they chose to put in their poems/how they react to each others :')

Guys, j-hope is a sub-vocalist. He's a great singer. He has incredible pitch accuracy, a very controlled falsetto, a strong, supported belt, and a pretty vibrato. He sings a lot and you've definitely seen him sing before several times. He's credited in the vocal gang on like 70% of BTS' discography including on vocal line solo songs like Jimin's Filter. Like j-hope can /sing/ sing. He could be a vocalist in any idol group any day. So, try to remember that so you're not surprised every time he sings something (which is a lot). That's part of why j-hope is the Golden Hyung (to Jungkook's "Golden Maknae"). Triple threats.

Could you guys also start reacting to Bangtan Bombs. They’ve filmed these since they first debuted and still release some, there probably over 200 or more of these they last about 5-7 minutes it just shows the members behind the scenes and a closer look into their lives.

Regarding the Taejin choreo argument, Jin didn’t make a mistake. The whole incident was simply a misunderstanding. I know that clip was supposed to show how BTS resolve conflicts but it makes me sad that it gave the audience a wrong impression that Jin had made a mistake but refused to listen to Tae’s advice.

Can you guys react to Mistletoe(Christmas day)? It's a song that Jimin and Jungkook sang in 2014. It's a cover of Justin Bieber's Mistletoe, but Jimin wrote the lyrics for Korean version! This was one of my favorite episodes. It’s sad but reminds us they got through the tough times and persevered. I started my trip down the rabbit hole with no direction so wasn’t able to piece together the timelines for events. Watching back with you all helps put things in better order and with the help of the admins and this community has helped me better understand.

I love how Yoongi reacts when the boys are playing, but he's also playful... and I like it when Gabriel compares himself to Yoongi lol... Rapline vocals shines everytime they do karaoke lol...Namjoon and yoongi always shows their fun side in run episodes, I love to see that!!! Oh my god Jimin and Jin was so energetic . And this episode has army realized that Yoongis poem already has parts of the themes of Interlude: Shadow and of Black Swan in it. I love to see how interconnected the thoughts are with BTS. OT7💜

It's true that he didn't join BigHit as a vocal and that "traded with Tae" thing is wildly out of pocket. haha. But he auditioned with JYP previously and he starred in a musical before that as a kid. So I think it's reasonable to assume that he intended to be an idol who danced and singed before he joined a hip hop group. Who knows...but he definitely demonstrated interest in singing prior to joining BigHit and has done vocals for BTS even early on in his career (he sang with vocal line members in Beautiful and Graduation Song pre-debut).
