Hey Primos!

Welcome back to Run BTS! Ep 136, Entertainment Quiz Show 1. Last time we wrapped up a trilogy where we learned once upon a time Jimin wasn't a good hider but he worked hard and got better at it in 2025! 😂 The whole episode, all three parts, were really enjoyable. So many moments! The staff dancing and the giant keyboard. But today we move on and this one is a 2 parter. We are going to go ahead and hop in and find out all the details now.

It's a quiz show and the team names are seven syllables. 😂 (So much harder then just yelling out a quick name.) We love games where we can play along but we love the entertainment of them interacting and yelling at each other that this one brings. Well that's Part 1, and Part 2 will be coming soon. We think we remember a meme worthy moment and think it's coming up. But that's all for today.

One of my favourite run episodes. Although when I watched it I had different translations which allowed me to get a good grasp of what was going on regardless of all the games being about Korean words. I hope you guys are also enjoying the content with the translations you have

i think americans tend to forget that there are different dialects within america lolll 😭 the game would be equivalent to guess a saying that is said in new york or texas because there are so many different accents and phrases across the country that some people don’t know if they’re not from that state!! think of it as how some americans would say buggy while others would just say shopping cart or soda vs pop! same thing with korea haha that’s why they were laughing at namjoon’s answers because he has the standard seoul dialect so his answers sounded like nonsense to the members who are from busan, daegu, and gwanju which are all places with strong accents :))

Tbh you cannot compare the Korean dialects with English at all the pronunciation is really really different and the whole language itself sounds different in some dialects like the Joelle do (Jhope) one

Guys you should react to paldogangsan song explanation video where they explore the dialects and regional differences in Korea and how bts cleverly uses the stereotypes in their song since many of them come from different regions

Guys it’s not taehyungs acting skills it’s literally the dialect of the region he grew up in that’s why they knew some and Jin was saying it’s unfair bcz he grew up in a different region and doesn’t get that dialect that they are speaking in

no i understand what you are saying but i was trying to give an example that would make sense for ccw on how to understand the game!! also i would argue that american dialects are able to sound completely different as well…some people may have a difficult time understanding the southern drawl if they’re from new england or some cultures may not pick up on aave (African America Vernacular English) so i don’t think it’s outlandish to compare the two…but i understand that somethings are completely different and can’t be compared since english and korean are two different languages!!

It’s crazy how statewide we can sound different too. I’m from Illinois, so I have a very midwestern accent which to many sounds like no accent lol. But I unconsciously stereotype Texan people to have a very deep drawl but from listening to you and my roommate who is from Dallas, I now know that not everyone from sounds like they’ve come out of a Cowboy TV show lol.

This is one of my all time favorite run bts episode(s) which I also think is very underrated. I LOVE LOVE LOVE when they get so competitive and chaotic. It doesn't matter to me personally if i don't understand certain phrases bc (duh) I'm not korean but watching them scream and yell over each other is so funny man. The way joonie was making them all lose it this episode was everything. Watching jimin and hobi laugh so hard is my favorite serotonin boost. Actually this entire episode is a serotonin boost. I cant wait for part 2!!!!

I once went to Lousiana with a colleague from Chicago. We were working with elderly gentlemen with serious drawls. After the meeting my colleague asked me could you understand what they said. When I said yes, he said how, because those were not words, just sounds. 😄😄😄 No offense to anyone, this actually can be said about any country, even ones that are way smaller than the US. Like ROK

So to give a short answer on the dialect questions, some countries languages have dialects that include not only different sayings or slang but completely different words. That's why RM and Jin thought they would be at a disadvantage, since they technically have no dialects as they are from districts/cities near Soul. But RM actually have been known to unknowingly sometimes use dialect from the regions of the other members. I guess being around the members and staff from other regions that can happen. The other 5 members don't really use dialect when speaking. The only time we ARMY hear them use dialect is when they are trying to be funny or it sometimes just happens when they are speaking.

I think Korean dialects are similar to how southern people say things compared to northerners. Or maybe more so aave compared to “standard” English.

Imagine you're a BTS parent and any call from your son you may be asked a rushed trivia question And Abby if it makes you feel any better I one saw an ad for the Bodies Exhibit and for a split second I wondered "Who's Bodie?" thinking it said Bodie's Exhibit! Lol Summer acting has nothing to do with Tae's acting. All the members except Jin and Namjoon come from areas that speak dialect that's why they were laughing at Namjoon while Jin was confused because Namjoon was saying it weird

Did you guys take part in the spotify/apple music games? I promise you there is no spoiler and if there is we wouldn't be able to tell. This is the fun thing about being a fan, it's when you can actually emerse yourself in the actual promotions like the rest of us, which I see you guys being very hesitant towards and I wish you weren't. There is so much you guys still don't know about the members and I am hoping one day you fully join/integrate yourselves in the ARMY community because there is still a big gap. There is also an animation trailer that was released which I thing you could watch on your own

OMG, I just LOVE Abby - because like Summer said, she said VERITY quiz so cute with such excitement, but also mostly because she doesn't take herself too seriously & can laugh at what happened. Summer, you asked about what would be the equivalent in English about the DIALECT quiz? I guess difference between British English & American English like you said, but also in America, it would be like a southern accent or phrase - for example, in the south isn't it common to say Y'ALL? that could be a question in this game & some would know it means you all. Another example in English for a DIALECT quiz is the word POP - in some parts of USA, that's what they call SODA & only people from those parts of USA would know that. BTS actually has a song all about the different regions they're from & the dialects they speak, but funny thing about RM getting the first Q right is that he's (& Jin) practically the only BTS members who's not from a province & doesn't have a dialect.

I love this episode and the next! Languages have always been so fun for me, so learning about accents vs dialects vs cultural rules is fascinating. I was born in Canada, but spent middle school onwards in the US and I essentially had my Canadian accent/dialect bullied out of me by my classmates. I have good friends from England, Australia, and South Africa and we're always flabbergasted at how different our word choices are. As for RM and Jin, they both use the standard Korean or Seoul dialect bc they both grew up and live near Seoul. As for Jin, he sometimes does incorporate Chungcheong dialect (a southern province) in his speech as both of his parents are from that province but it's not as strong as the other members dialects :)
