Katara is the only water bender in the whole South tribe. There's only one South tribe, one North tribe, and then the Swamp tribe. That's why she was so excited to go to the North tribe. She was finally going to meet another water bender and someone who could potentially teach her because at that point she was only self-taught. Also CONGRATS ON 100K!!! You guys deserve it 💜
