tldr: Would you like if I shrank the pool size to 4 characters, or do you like where it's currently at 12

Hey everyone!  I've been thinking about the size of voting pools and the pros and cons of where it's at.  Currently I have 12 selections that you can vote from each month, but I feel there are often candidates that don't get meaningful amount of votes/attention

My question to ya'll:  Would you like to see me shrink the pool size to 4 or so?Pro: Selected candidates will have more focused voting, leading to a more meaningful choice when votingCon: There will be less variety to vote, and it will make the suggestions section harder to get any character in

I could also take to a more curated selection according to my judgement, but this will also weaken suggestions as it will introduce my own personal bias.  There's also the possibility that I could change the whole paradigm to a more request focused system rather than a strict one character per month situation...  I'll have more questions as the days go on as I want to provide a better fitting situation for everyone!

Maybe cut it to 6? Going from 12 down to 4 feels like a big decrease.

Is running a 12 poll then taking the top 4 of that to make a 4 poll be an option? Kinda like ranked voting

I've certainly thought about that, though I feel like it gets clunky as there would be 3 phases every month. Suggestions > 12 vote > 4 vote If people are into that, then we could explore that though!

That's certainly possible too! The numbers are that strict, just curious about if we want more meaningful voting, or more variety

6 would be a good number to cut it to. My main concern is when you choose suggestions, they need to be of roughly the same fame. If it's one girl that's vastly more popular than the others, the poll is entirely pointless.

I voted 12, but if you feel that's still too much, maybe 6 or 9? I feel like 4 is a bit too few.

4 feels too few. Perhaps 9? You could theme certain months, or alternate between less common and mainstream character polls? Adds some variety, but you will likely hit the trending/ popular characters enough to keep your engagement up.

I actually think 6 would be a good amount. And i like an idea i read that i'll echo here, i think the characters should be of similar popularity, having one character that's very popular right now easily blow all other options out is not fun to see.

5-6 is my preference, but 4 would be better than 12.

12 sometimes feels like a lot, but 4 feels like it'll be too few. I think splitting it down the middle and trying 8 choices to get a feel for it makes sense.

It seems like several people are looking for something in the middle. I can see 6 working Yes, balancing the popularity of suggestions would be helpful, but it's contingent on there being enough relevant suggestions. I may have to do some more creative theming or categorization without the whole system getting too complicated

I feel like 6 might be a good middle ground. 9 still feels like there would be many suggestions left behind, though that's just my personal feeling Theming could definitely help with balancing the selection roster, though it will end up constraining the suggestion side of things. Certainly something to consider, thanks for the suggestions!

Yeah 6 sounds good. I'll have to consider how to balance popularity. Since the roster is based on rng and suggestions, it won't always be balanced. Some are suggesting theming to help, which I can see. I might have to make some deeper fundamental changes to make this work out for us all

I've always held the view that you should draw what you want to draw and I'll support it! But that would be a pretty drastic change, so do whatever works for you!
