Hello Darlings,

A Marilith, a massive six-armed snake Demon from the Abyss, is on campus and attacking Query and her fellow freshmen on the first day of classes. Chaos erupts outside the castle as a group of inexperienced students with barely any primary spells are forced to defend themselves from a high general of the Demon Realm. Despite her fear for herself, Query finds herself doing her best to protect Bory, the Goblin druid Query has only just met.

Took me a while to finish this chapter, but probably because it was so dense! Combat action, new characters, demon vs. devil lore, and more! After making such a dramatic entrance, she seems like she will be quite the foil for Query. Not sure if this is the right place to mention it, but there was one section that was hard for me to follow: On page 11, it sounds like Luster is describing Q wearing the demon armor, but then the next paragraph sounds like Q reassuring her and apologizing for swearing, and Luster plays it off. There's a lot of 'she' pronouns but few direct indications of who is speaking. The first couple times I read it I thought Luster was swearing and Query was playing it off, until the logic of the exchange clicked the other way. I think splitting the quote by describing Luster's wince without using her name was causing my confusion. Just thought I'd mention it since I usually don't have any miscues like that in your writing! Or maybe I'm just sleepy. Please keep up the good work!

I apologize for any confusion! Yes, the 'she's can get confusing, especially when they are both tieflings. Ah, the curse of sapphic writing. Q is wearing the demon armor per Professor Bronzebeard's request, the demon was also wearing her own set of demon armor, Query was the one who cursed, and Query apologized because she was so embarrassed to be cursing in front of a holy woman.
