When I was in college, I prayed to Satan to turn me into a girl. It was a sincere and earnest prayer, the kind that should never be mocked. I had grown up Catholic and was forced to go through conversion therapy, so I was well acquainted and in love with God and Jesus. But they had never answered my prayers. They had never given me a damn thing, so I prayed to Satan. I offered everything I had — including my soul — for the chance to be a girl.
15 years later, I have transitioned and in some ways, my prayer was answered. In most ways, it was ignored like all my other prayers.
As a way to get back up to speed with writing, I decided to revisit that innocent moment of gender dysphoria and dissonance. I wanted to write a story about a boy who prays to Satan to be a girl and how that goes hellishly wrong and deliciously right for him. So, please enjoy chapter 1 of Crafting a Wish.
