For a new anime i think you guys would really like DanMachi. It has a great OST and the combat is pretty well done. It also has the nerdy stuff with dungeons, stats and skills, etc.... Also has references to Greek Mythology.

Initial comment re: Yuuki and Masayuki: They haven't been making it obvious but Rimuru hasn't forgotten about Yuuki. He's acting as if he doesn't suspect him, and Yuuki's acting as if he doesn't think Rimuru doesn't at the very least suspect him, but Rimuru wants to observe Yuuki more, Yuuki actually wants to have fun and observe Tempest, and they are in a subtle game of poker. Rimuru still doesn't have proof. The whole thing with Kagali is partly because they know Rimuru is in charge of the ruins on Clayman's land, and Rimuru wants to see what they'll do. In the meantime they can treat each other as friends. I think Rimuru is more sincere. Also, with Masayuki, Rimuru had already decided he wasn't going to get into fights with random people who want to challenge him, especially during the festival, so he had already said he would only fight the winner of the tournament. Masayuki figures it'll work out probably, but he really doesn't want to, and he's not good at letting his admirers' expectations down. Besides, Rimuru's proposal successfully delayed the confrontation for a few days. Those with Unique Skills are unaffected by Chosen One. This is also an example of when Yuuki doesn't seem to be furthering an agenda by trying to convince Masayuki's party not to take a hostile stance against Rimuru. I mentioned in my comment about Episode 17 that Masayuki hasn't met a Demon Lord, a majin, HInata, or any of the strongest people in the world yet, so he is basing his confidence on lack of knowledge. On the other hand, maybe Yuuki did intend for there to be a fight between Rimuru and Masayuki. If for no other reason than to get information and enjoy the chaos, it’s possible. In a previous comment, I pointed out some things that happened regarding Yuuki and his connections, it was probably somewhere around Episode 11 or 12. I believe the anime was trying to get viewers to come to certain conclusions, but did a bad job of it, mostly because they were too cryptic and there was too much else going on. =================================================================i ****** Greeting the important guests to the Festival: This episode only encompasses 39 pages in the LN. The King of Blumund has been married for 20 years, and he and the Queen are popular among their citizens. She (the LN states) is beautiful. He's the political brains and she's the economic brains. The distribution hub is to coordinate trade among certain countries. As a not very large nation, but somewhat centrally located, they will benefit from providing services and infrastructure rather than being expected to produce either raw materials or manufactured goods. Trains: Rimuru's roads were already built with that in mind. When Gazel talks about family, I really think he's talking about his entourage. All the advisors wanted to come because of all the rumors of luxury and reports about technological advances, and no one was letting him go the easy way, because it was an official visit, and because the elite of many nations would be there. He had to display his personal and national strength and wealth. That's what I think he meant. Gazel knows who won the battle between Rimuru and Hinata because of the spies lurking around Tempest. (Though the details were hidden.) I already talked about that back around Ep. 12. Gazel is tall because of the whims of the animators (and the mangaka)! Afik. In the light novel he’s tall for a dwarf but about 5’5”. Gran has fled the scene and the Lubelius people think he's dead. As for the new country name for Falmuth, most fans would not have known the name Falmenace when this episode first came out, since that romanization seems to be unique to the anime. But they are saying in the anime that it actually comes from the word menace. Don't remember hearing that before. Be that as it may, most people would call it Farmenas or Farminas. There is probably another version. Maybe Shion is thinking about proper etiquette? In the LN’s, during the audiences (the ones with the monsters living in Jura), 95% of the time Rigurd spoke for Rimuru, so it really was like he was on display. All demons are competitive and arrogant to some degree. Rimuru isn't just trying to get Youm to be grateful to him. By canceling the debt, he's improving Youm's reputation and influence among the Western Nations, as well as making Rimuru seem more reasonable. There is rarely just one benefit to a plan. Also, way back when Diablo was planning this reparations thing out with Rimuru, they knew they would only get about 1500 Stellars. (The subtitles have it wrong in the episode where he received the first payment.) To insist on more would place hardship on the people and breed resentment (if you know your history this had a huge impact on Europe prior to WWII.) Roughly a week for the festival. Programming seems to have begun, and this day is the pre-opening day. I put a schedule in my comment a couple of episodes ago, when Mjollmile presented it. The official festival begins tomorrow, with about 4 days of planned events. In the LN, it describes Soma, the ruins in the Barren Lands, (not to be confused with the ruins in Clayman’s former lands) that were mentioned as being up against the borders of Daggrull's territory, not actually in Daggull’s territory. It might be a translation ambiguity. When Yuuki comments about Rimuru's wishes regarding ruins, the subtitles say Rimuru is quite ambitious; Yuuki actually says Rimuru is quite the romanticist. But to be a romanticist in this world is to be quite ambitious. ================================================================ ***** Now I am going back to the beginning to add in more background. Rimuru wasn't dealing with monsters for this set of meetings, so he didn't have to put on such an overpowering “I am stronger than you” act. Instead, what he did have to do was dress to the nines to express his power and wealth to the humans. In human form. By his advisors’ insistence. A reminder that Rimuru is said to look about 11 years old at this point. The King of Blumund’s influence has kept Rimuru's reputation from being too bad. They discussed the fate of Viscount Kazak, who had been stripped of his titles and exiled. It was both too little and too much punishment, but Rimuru really didn't have much say, even though the victims were from Jura. The King was already interested in Rimuru’s proposal for Blumund; he had heard some of it from Fuze. He wanted to personally negotiate. We didn't know yet about Rimuru's plan for Blumund (distribution center), I think this is where it was introduced for the first time. During the meeting Gazel tells Rimuru that Hinata is stronger than himself. Gazel knew this only by gathering information because in his position he couldn't actually spar with her. Gazel wanted to confirm that Rimuru had won in his battle against her, but Rimuru protested that it was really his Skills that were responsible. It was just luck. To himself, he acknowledged that without Raphael, he would have lost. And Raphael managed his other Skills. If Raphael hadn’t used Skills Rimuru didn't even know he had, he would have lost. Gazel replied that luck is an important strength as well. Rimuru is saying that with his “real” skills he couldn't beat Hakurou. More like equal to Gobta. Gazel replied that his Skills are part of his battle strength. As for the overture from the Church to the Dwarven Kingdom, it was so farfetched to think that more than a tiny minority of the Church could think of Dwargon as the same thing as monsters, given that the country had maintained neutrality for thousands of years. That's why Rimuru had brought it up to the Church. The proposal was bound to be accepted. In diplomacy, to initiate conversations with a country with whom you do not have diplomatic relations, you must first establish a backchannel. Of course, a gathering like this will be an opportunity for side talks between many parties. Rimuru tried to bluff his way out of admitting responsibility for Lubelius’ actions in the LN, saying that maybe the conciliatory mood led Lubelius to approach Dwargon all on its own, but Raphael reported that Gazel was trying to use Read Thought on his surface thoughts. Raphael was permitting it because of a lack of hostile intent. Should she block? YES! That's when Rimuru first learned Gazel had that Skill. He's had suspicions before. He surmised that it must have been Great Sage's evolution to Raphael that enabled detection. Then Rimuru was forced to tell Gazel the whole story. The factions Youm was talking about are being handled by both Razen and Grucius. Edmaris had disguised himself and was serving as an advisor. Btw, Edgar is just 10 yo. ====================================================================== This part is about Rimuru's visit to Yuuki and the kids in order to bring them to Tempest. First, yeah. Yuuki, no matter how much I try to say that Rimuru has his suspicions, the anime, and even the LN, doesn't have Rimuru constantly reminding us of that. Instead, the lack of indication either way about his thoughts about Yuuki for long stretches of time makes you think Rimuru isn't being wary at all. The audience ends up worrying about when the other shoe is going to drop. Yuuki acts like everything is OK, too, and it almost looks like they both are trying to be pals. And, strangely, despite any future intentions they may harbor, they are currently genuinely pals and do help each other out. But why? We know Yuuki reveals himself in private to others. So there is that. But from Rimuru’s side, there are no reminders since Ep.11, iirc. And not a very strong one there, at that. In fact, it looks like Rimuru is ignoring the warning signs and taking multiple reckless risks. But it's not just that the plot is hiding stuff from us, though that may be part of it. Yuuki is just hard to figure out. Rimuru wants to be friends, so he wants proof. We’ll see where this goes. Now Kagali. I never saw her look so friendly. Guess she can smile. Of all the artificially-generated jobs they could give a new second-in-command who came out of nowhere to be introduced to Rimuru at this point, did it have to be a ruins explorer? A bit of a coincidence, huh? I don't think Kagali is entirely faking her interest in ruins, but there’s gotta be another reason. This is an indication that things are progressing in the Yuuki plotline, without overt comment. Let's speculate that maybe they introduced Kagali to Rimuru as a ruin explorer with those very ruins in mind? They don't say so here, but Yuuki didn't have to introduce Kagali to Rimuru at all. Why do it now? And let's hope Rimuru is as suspicious of Yuuki's close associates as he is theoretically, at least, of Yuuki himself. Remember who held that territory before Clayman did? It was Kazalim. But I think that Rimuru isn’t really taking a risk by telling Yuuki about the ruins. Rimuru would be thinking that if these guys were working with Clayman, they already knew about the ruins (despite the fact that they acted surprised), and conversely, if they weren't working with Clayman, then telling them about the ruins would be no harm done. You're left wondering if maybe Rimuru, not Yuuki, is controlling this conversation. Is there some purpose to bringing this up other than the stated one? An issue not mentioned in the anime with regard to exploring the ruins in Clayman’s old territory is that, while Rimuru is in charge there for the time being, it will eventually become part of Milim's territory. As such, they will need her consent for the exploration. (Rimuru doesn't want the territory because it borders the Eastern Empire, and there is at least one road, though treacherous, that had evidence of frequent travel between the two lands. Rimuru doesn't want to run border defense, although Jura also borders on the Eastern Empire. Maybe he just doesn't want the entire headache.) Back to Milim. Knowing Milim as he does, he tells Yuuki and Kagali that she’d probably agree to the expedition, but she’d probably also want to come along. Rimuru intends to go as well. What would happen to the relics they find? With it being Milim’s land, the presence of Kagali and her expedition team, the Guild’s involvement, and the fact that Rimuru has a museum in which he’d like to display things, it's a complicated question, but it doesn't need to be solved immediately. It's been almost a year since Rimuru left Engrassia. Tiss isn't in the LN since she was introduced in the OVA’s. They had a different teacher, who was a retired A-minus adventurer. The conversation was more in depth about who can train the children in battle since they are outgrowing their teachers’ abilities. Also they need training in how to use their spirits. So the kids are a year older, and that means that Alice is 10, Gail is 12, and the others are 11. Coincidentally, Rimuru is talking about starting a school at home. The biggest problem with including the human kids at this point is that there wouldn't be a way for them to learn how to get along in human society. He thought Hakurou could train them in swordsmanship, but that wouldn't be all they needed. (Being entirely self-taught, Rimuru didn't think he'd be a good candidate as a teacher in elementalist skills or magic (involving elemental spirits)) He thought maybe Hinata would be a good candidate for that role. The saints use spirits all the time. The medallion Rimuru gave the kids also allowed them to contact him if they really needed to. =================================================================== Masayuki. Rimuru's first impression of Masayuki, looks aside: he didn't think he looked very strong, and he could tell he was an Otherworlder by the faint Heroic Aura he emitted, which was meant to be intimidating, but didn't work on Rimuru. The provocation caused by Masayuki's companions upon meeting Rimuru was even greater than portrayed in the anime, even with Yuuki's intervention. Rimuru had to keep himself from reacting, but it would ruin the image he's been working to build up. There were witnesses hanging around, after all. Rimuru realized the basis of all their suspicion is simply because Rimuru is a Demon Lord, you can't trust him. So Rimuru decided to get something out of this conflict too. He suggested that Masayuki’s party enter the tournament, which altered the rules since Rimuru had planned to restrict the entrants to sub-A rank only. Mainly because of structural integrity concerns, but it had withstood more already (in the LN, the fight with the three giant brothers did not result in damage to the arena), so, what the heck, if it crumbled they could just rebuild it, as long as no one gets hurt. By the way, one of the selling points of this tournament was that they could use potions to heal even severe injuries between rounds (though not death). The win that many people hope Rimuru takes, in order for Masayuki's friends to get their comeuppance, will still look like a win for Masayuki somehow in their heads, so I don't know that they, at least, will be changing their attitudes either way, no matter what happens. But neither Rimuru nor Masayuki can afford to lose this because of the damage it would do to their image. Rimuru has a passing thought that the whole thing might be a huge bluff on Masayuki's part, judging from Masayuki's reluctance, but brushed it off considering they had defeated Orthrus, and because Masayuki agreed to Rimuru’s offer. (Rimuru, with everyone’s help, including Raphael’s, is still trying to figure Masayuki’s Skills out.) Yuuki expresses he doesn't really know what the outcome of the colosseum battle would be, saying he really finds Masayuki's true strength a mystery. I actually think that's true. So he's worried about Masayuki. But compared to the big issues Rimuru had faced heretofore, Rimuru figures they would figure something out. (Ironically both opponents seem to think alike on this.) ================================================================== ******* Final comment: I am going to say something radical here, but I think a big part of the existence of this arc is just for a lot of the characters to get together. Yes, there’s plot here, but the main characters this Season are Tempest and the World. We get to know some more important characters, and there is some character development. I call the first cours the most political in Slime, and this one, the most economic, but a big part of it is just slice-of-life. I think people are going to be surprised about the trajectory of the rest of this season. I say this because I have learned by watching people watch this season before, that some people are relatively dismissive of things I would call a major event. For an analogy, a major turning point in history doesn't have to seem dramatic at the time. It's only afterwards that people see its significance. *****

I thought you were looking for a food anime? If that was to replace a different anime, then I already suggested The Apothecary Diaries. You should probably watch Slime Diaries, but you could put it off as late as the point where you would have to watch it before the next season or movie. To come up with other anime, I would have to think about it.

Kcosta

I will be at odds with myself debating a great reaction for you after this

theheck

Right ha, slime is just so good. At least we know that season 4 is coming and a new movie so we have that to look forward to!

DaedricDragon

I still feel really bad about poor Masayuki. His skill always gets him into situations he doesn't want to be in lol
