So, there was an official announcement of a Season 4 and a second movie, but AFAIK no release date yet. As far as an anime suggestion, since you like world building, the Apothecary Diaries is spectacular. It has a great world, amazing animation, great VA performances, but it's long for a new series. It's got 24 episodes in the first season and 16 of 24 episodes in the second season so far. However, it's good enough to be in the conversation of Anime of the year for last year. It premiered in Oct 2023, ran until March 2024. They even announced that season 2 was in production at the end of the last episode of season 1. The source material for it is the Light Novel, which was the #1 in sales last year at 1.3 million copies. It's spectacular. It is a mystery/drama/historical fiction anime.

Thank you so much for that breakdown for us! I've been hearing this one mentioned a lot recently but learning more about it has got me very interested now! We're definitely gonna check it out!

Jeff Schaller

Fun fact. The main character is voiced by the VA of Tanya from Saga of Tanya the Evil.

I am a very new Patreon, so I don't know how or if you take recommendations. But seeing as you enjoyed Reincarnated as a Slime, I would highly recommend Shangri-La Frontier. It is highly rated, with 2 seasons and a 3rd season on the way.

Edward Lott

I have been looking myself to find out the release dates of the movie and season 4 but alas that has not been officially announced. Dang it!

Edward Lott

I agree about the Apothecary Diaries. It is an awesome anime! If you are looking for a fun one I would also recommend Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle. It is a hoot! And another underrated one is Tearmoon Empire. Oh, and Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid is a fun one.

Aikuchi-san

From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman was just released and its pretty good (f course the manga is better, haha!), if you like good swordplay and more grounded and humble approach to training up abilities.

26:52 - Yeah, Chris is right. Raphael was responding to Rimuru stating that there is a possibility that Yuki is innocent - to which Raphael answers the possibility of Yuki being innocent is low given all of the evidence. Try to remember that even if it's not overtly shown on screen, Rimuru always runs everything through Raphael. So him coming to the nearly positive conclusion that Yuki is the mastermind, takes into account Raphael's analysis. And if you recall, back in season two one Rimuru was already suspecting Yuki as the source that "tipped off" Hinata about Rimuru's involvement in Shizu's death. But then Rimuru discovered that it was an Eastern Merchant that gave Hinata the information, so that seemed to lessen Rimuru's suspicion of Yuki. But as we can see here, Rimuru is still wary of Yuki because the information the Eastern Merchant gave to Hinata had to have come from somewhere close to Rimuru. And only Yuki really fit's the timing and circumstances. However, as the audience, Yuki working against Rimuru's interests behind the scenes should never be in doubt. After all, we can clearly see him conspiring and leading the clown troop lol The Yuki we see when he interacts with Rimuru is just a mask. And this episode shows that Rimuru has his own mask when interacting with Yuki. Our favorite slime is basically following the old saying "keep your friend close and your enemies closer".

There are a few shows i would recommend to anyone really Puella Magi Madoka Magica for if you want something you can really dig into Nichijou if you wanna have a good laugh Frieren if you enjoy some insane animation while also just enjoying a good time Bocchi the Rock if you want to see how creative animators can be and my last one, wich is a bit of a hard sell, but hear me out Girls und Panzer you might look at it going "oh, its just cute girls doing cute things with tanks" but its absolutely worth watching, a sports anime that will make you interested on its own terms. kinda like how watching haikyuu makes you wanna play volleyball and the like its a passion project and you can really FEEL it

Hunter De Lupin

Earlier on, Rimuru had the skill "Gluttony", it's the same with Maribelle. She has the skill "Greed". There are 7 unique skills named after the Sins, which can be upgraded to an ultimate skill, like "Beelzebub: Lord of Gluttony". But right now, Maribelle's is only a unique skill. Her getting that has to do with her past.

Hunter De Lupin

For some suggestions: I would really like for someone to react to a series that I loved soo much, I had gone an read all the light novels (21). That is "Campione!" It is only 13 episodes, but loved the concept of it. It is Supernatural/comedy/romance. Other than that, others would be: No Game No Life + Movie Gate: Thus the JSDF was there Arifureta: From weakest to World's strongest DeathNote Demon Slayer Log Horizon My Dress-up Darling The Irregular at Magic High School

Joe

Slight Spoilers, The evil little girl. Mariabell Rosso, Is a human. She died and got reincarnated carrying her memory of the previous world, like Rimuru. She recalled that her former self was a ruler that dominated Europe. The comment she made about being Greed has to do with her manipulating many people's "desires" with her Unique skill, Greed. / The Primordial Daemons also known as Seven Pillars of Primordial, are the oldest and most extraordinarily powerful daemons. Each of them is referred to by their signature colors rather than an actual name, (Red/Rouge, White/Blanc, Black/Noir, Green/Vert, Yellow/Jaune, Purple/Violet, Blue/Bleu) with these "substitute names" not counting as their actual names in the true sense of being a named monster. ie Diablo, or Demon lord guy Crimson.

Hhound42

So now Overlord and Slime withdrawal pangs like the rest of us.

The next arc is way too long for a movie.

Hahahaha, now you know how we all felt about having to wait for the next season. Why is it when there is a show that's really good it doesn't get enough episodes. I wish this show got them like My hero Academia or hunter vs hunter, where they have over 300 episodes. It's not like that they're bad anime, it's just that i don't watch those. Dammit. lol. Oh well here's to hoping you guys get another good anime.

myst0dreamer

They really shortened the scene with the merchants. The merchants were much more persistent, Rimuru and Mjollmile tried much harder to get them to change their minds. Duke Meuse, in the anime, was much more harsh; he was being much more polite in the light novel, the kind of politeness that means nothing. In the end, I finally decided the episode covered pretty much all the bases. They did leave out a few important facts and they glossed over a few other ones that I thought they could have been clearer about, for instance, when Rimuru rejected the merchants, Mjollmile, after Rimuru left, promised to intervene with him to get their ban lifted after they begged. Rimuru took Elmesia's instruction on the way to get someone to owe you by getting them in your debt to heart, and he turned Meuse's and the Rozzo's intended plot back upon them. This is what Mjollmile was talking about at the beginning of the Gazebo Meeting 2.0. Duke Meuse had been promised a seat on the Five Elders if he succeeded. The journalists were there at Diablo's behest. Remember back to cours 1 when in exchange for the media's writing articles about the events of that day, he would keep them safe from the Seven Days? There was a connection formed through Diablo's Skill Tempter. Yeah, I know there were a lot of meetings, but one type of meeting content they skipped during the season contained more info about the Rozzo's, Mariabel Grenville, and their plans, Yuuki's connections and their plans. I have complained about how they didn't tell the audience as much about these things, as they did in the LN, or even the manga. They threw out some terms, and vague hints, that were hard to put together unless you had more knowledge to realize what they meant. Meetings serve a couple of purposes. Even reading the LN, you notice there are a lot of meetings. In politics and economics and diplomacy, you need meetings. You also have private meetings. The purposes include, to exchange information, work out solutions, to brainstorm, to put input from different sources together, to see the big picture, to bond with people, to elucidate the themes and Rimuru's goals, to make plans, to make lore drops or big reveals, to recognize various people's achievements, to get on the same page, to discuss strategy, to plan battles, to give encouragement, to create solidarity. In any organization it's possible to do without meetings, and meetings can be a waste of time, boring, contentious, a place for dominance games and grandstanding, but you miss out on a lot of benefits if you avoid them. Rimuru avoids a lot of the pitfalls by having a healthy group mindset and by being a good leader, down to knowing how to run a meeting. This sounds like a description of one of those self-help books you see about how to run a company or how to reach your goals in your career. Anyway, I think I have strayed from my main point that meetings are important and they can be very interesting. Meetings also provide the opportunity in a story to show character interactions and humor. The Five Elders (the Rozzo’s) had tried Granville's way first, which was to draw Tempest into their sphere of influence, rather than destroy Tempest. Tempest, mostly intact, would have proven very useful to them. This failed. I think we can expect a change in goals and tactics. Anything I say about Yuuki, beyond possibly the stuff that I think they tried to tell the audience in Season 3 but did an awful job of doing, would reveal too much. But I do want to point out that any important conversation that Yuuki participates in is always a bit cryptic. It's because he's so intelligent that he conveys a large amount of information in a few words, and he makes huge leaps of understanding that not everyone can always follow. Kagali, Damrada, and to a lesser extent Laplace can usually participate in these conversations, among his closer confidants. Rimuru doesn't frequently engage in these kinds of communications with him, but he has his own strengths when he does. Usually. The reader (and viewer) usually has to think harder about what is going on at these times, than with most other characters. They do state several times much earlier in the LN’s that Yuuki is a genius. In the final meeting, I think he knows what he said or was forced to reveal. Incidentally – a very important omission – Rimuru invited everyone who knew of his connection to Shizu to that meeting. Thus, Rimuru had all his suspects in the room, when he asked them about the Eastern Merchants. Only Yuuki equivocated in his answer. It wasn't made clear in the anime that some of the new technologies would not spread too easily due to others' lack of magic resources that happen to be abundant in Tempest. (All those magicules!) The trains would work with steam heated magically (elemental spirits), and the control systems would be using the sorcerous science that Thalion specializes in. I talked about Elmesia's goals in the episode where she stepped up to speak with Rimuru. Mostly she wants to be involved (can't afford not to be involved), to keep some control over the situation, not to mention gain benefits politically and financially, for herself and her nation. It's really not too different from Gazel's goals. There are a sizable number of people, even among those who love the story, who thought that the adaptation was not very good. Someone said 8bit did a poor job with the animation. I think they do quite a good job, even if some scenes, especially battle scenes, were not top-tier. At least they are at least consistently mid-high to very good. A lot of people seemed to be asking for content that simply wasn't even there in the LN. I have a harder time with manga content. I’ve read it, but I can't always tell if manga-not-LN anime viewers were expecting something more exciting. In general, the story is the story, even if there are minor differences, but it seemed sometimes that there were even LN readers who wanted something different from what was in the LN. For instance, wanting the dungeon opening or the tournament to be an entirely different thing, beyond including every detail. As if they wanted the battles to be different, as if they wanted the focus off of Masayuki (but it was really all about him), and as if they wanted the focus to be on the labyrinth rather than how well it was being promoted, and Rimuru's thoughts about the whole thing. But that's where the focus was supposed to be. That's generally why I think Season 3 was generally a good adaptation. The meaning was what it was supposed to be. I think people would have complained a lot more if the concept was completely changed. The anime, imo, is true to its original intent. My take as a light novel reader is that, while flawed mostly in pacing, and I still think they rarely do the battle scenes justice, nevertheless the Third Season anime adaptation kept true to the plot, characters, themes, and intentions of the original work. From an anime-only person's point of view, I can see how this Season can seem odd or confusing. How much of this is important going forward for the plot? I want to say all of it, but of course that's partly my bias. But it is true, as it has been, that very little is throwaway content. Most things have significance for the future plot. And you could see this Season as a settling-in period. If you compare the state of Tempest and the world at the beginning of the Season, to its state at the end, there have been great changes in Tempest's influence on the world. Tempest, and in particular, Rimuru, is having a huge impact on the world. The Church, the Western Nations, the entire Jura Forest, Thalion, etc. are becoming a network. Add in Milim's domain to an extent. I often call Rimuru a connection-making machine. Cultural, economic, and political entwinements, the latter evident in the overture from the Council of the West to Tempest, are proceeding. The Rozzo's have a lot of control over the Council. You can see that letter as having something to do with the Rozzo's. (They are from the West, despite having been aligned with the Eastern merchants. The Eastern Empire, a still-mysterious nation, is basically hostile to the West.) They still are not making Yuuki's dealings very clear. We can assume that Yuuki and the Rozzo's have some influence over it. You can assume there are factions. What would the Council want from Tempest? Why would they feel they had to contact them? Don’t forget the Ruins that were mentioned earlier this season. That still hasn’t been resolved. We still have Mariabel, Granville, Yuuki, the Angels, potentially the Eastern Empire, as plot elements that have still not been addressed. We have met some of the Primordial demons in the OVA’s but don’t know much about them or what they have to do with the story. The Skills will actually feature more prominently in the future, despite how little they like to talk about them in the anime. Economic and cultural development will proceed.

myst0dreamer

I am not sure the Unique Skills are quite so special, and I don't think they are necessarily connected to the Ultimate Skill with the same name, but the Ultimate Skills fit your description perfectly. I think it is even possible for one individual to have the Unique Skill that has the same name as an Ultimate Skill, and another individual to have the Ultimate Skill.

Gah right! Now we just gotta find some things to hold us over until that next season! But the silver linings I guess is that we've found shows like this that are so awesome to give us these pains when they're not around ha.

A movie OR a new season huh? Why not BOTH?😂 Seriously, there is both a movie coming and a new season. So huzzah! 🎉 - So, here we are... many episodes after I told ya that I was thrilled that you appreciated finding out that just bc they didn't show Tempest's crew preparing for something didn't mean they weren't. The end of this episode is the reason why. There's no way to get around that the back half of this season was off putting for a lot of viewers. Light on action heavy on meetings and world building. IMO it was entirely necessary for what's about to snowball. Without all the setups and info dumping the rest of the story just can't happen, not organically. - The best thing they did with the latter half of the season was that they just let you wonder and get lulled into a slower tempo that put you off guard. They put you at Rimuru's pace not any of the outside schemers. The last few episodes during the festival then ramped your adrenaline back up seeing what the audience KNEW were bad people just casually hanging out in Tempest with our crew. It left you spiraling trying to figure out why Rimuru wasn't catching on that something had to be wrong. Only, guess what, you get to the last meeting and it turns out our crew has once again been making all kinds of moves in the shadows! I did tell you, Rimuru was caught helpless once and witnessed his people be slaughtered. He has no intention of ever being caught unaware in such a fashion again. This is his country. These are his allies, his people, his friends, his FAMILY. You think he was MERCILESS before, stay tuned and see what he'll be like the next time someone thinks to cause harm to his treasure. Because that's what they really are, his treasured people and home. Everytime we see him he's aquired new people, ideas, and things for his country. Almost like a hoarder... very true dragon behavior from him. Perhaps Veldora is starting to rub off on him. 🙃 - I'm soooo happy you've loved this anime as much as I have! It always brings me such joy to see you guys light up watching it. I'm excited for you guys to get to Slime Diaries now! They really show a great look into the everyday life in Tempest going into this last season. This has been a blast guys, see you in a different reaction soon! 🩷💛🩵 p.s. sorry about being so late, it was just one of those weekends! 😑

myst0dreamer

I agree wholeheartedly that Rimuru's central motivation is that he will never again let anything hurt his people. Maybe even above his desire to make connections. So he is always cautious even if the anime isn't showing it. I should have emphasized this more in my final comment. ...... And yes, I am surprised no one has mentioned Slime Diaries before now, that is practically required viewing.

It has been so awesome having you here with us and giving us your thoughts along with each episode! For the most part I never thought this show had any lulls at all. The meetings were all very informative and gave us so much insight into Rimuru's plans and motivations. I'm so happy with this anime. It has become one of my favorites and it will most definitely hold that title forever I believe. I'm just so stoked for the next season and new movie! Gah they can't give us an announcement fast enough! Thank you LaLa!!

Ah heck yeah! So many suggestions I love it! Definitely looking at those food ones for after Campfire Cooking for sure! Thank you so much!

Croydon Davis

You included my entire list for suggestions, the only one I can think of to add is Dr. stone, kind of similar to isekai, but mostly sci-fi with more emphasis on real science.

myst0dreamer

Yeah, I saw and liked the first season, and I would recommend it, but I didn't watch the following seasons, so I couldn't.

SonicKing2004

One I'd like to add, which fits in with both the Iseki and Sci-fi/Mecha categories, is I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire.

myst0dreamer

I watched one ep., so you like it? I'll have to move it up my priority list, I guess. Two things that started late are Teogonia and Shirohiyo, which I am enjoying (shows that start late get neglected).

myst0dreamer

There were a few you recommended that I didn't that were ones I considered, too, but they lost out on technicalities only. Particularly Arifureta and The Irregular at Magic High School.

SonicKing2004

Some recommendations I would like to offer up are: I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire (Japanese salaryman from a black company isekis into a galaxy where magic coincides with mechs and interstellar battleships) Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp (after reincarnating in Japan, Elise decides to atone for her life as a spoiled princess by saving lives as a surgeon. However, a fatal accident returns her to an earlier point in her previous life with her medical knowledge, and her vow to save lives with it, intact) Sweet Reincarnation (a pastry chef who dies in a tragic accident is reborn as an heir of a poor lord where he must use the knowledge of his old world, including his confectionary knowledge, and his growing magic to forge a better life for those he cares about) I have more suggestions, but I think that these should entertain you while we're waiting for a new season of Slime.
