The amount of hate you have for Belaf is definitely not the norm. Most people see him as the one (aside from Vueko) who most regrets the act of actually consuming Iruumyui’s children, to the point of allowing her to (as far as he knew) kill him. And not for a new hollow form, but as recompense. Definitely an interesting take you have on him.

I think they are also passing on what he has been doing to Mitty in this hate. Which is pretty fair. lol

59:20 - 59:42 Faputa: "Stay with me forever. And then children too..." Reg: "Let's promise each other. We'll set off hand in hand". No!!! They were Engaged! 😭 Reg & Faputa's relationship is truly heartbreaking. They should be walking off hand in hand together, but instead they are fighting to the Death in the depths of the Abyss, knowing there is no hatred between them. Wonder what would have happened if Reg never lost his memories firing that beam in Ep 1 to save Riko.

So in the least spoiler ways possible going from what the show has told us so far. I'm not going to include information that may or may not come later on. But Mitty was brought down to the 6th layer before Nanachi had rescued Mitty and left. Which you seem to understand that part. And whatever balancing value magic "nonsense" that is going on inside the village... it's able to "copy" being to some degrees. Now are these copies perfect copies? Are they real or fake? As you asked or pondered? As the show explains it. This Mitty is "real"... If Mitty had more intelligence she would be unable to tell that she was a copy etc. At least that's my belief. Now if Mitty herself would be unable to know or tell if she was a copy or the original herself... Even if she were not to be "real" she would still be "real" if you catch my drift? lol It's complicated. So yes Belaf traded it's legs/arms to have the village make a copy of Mittys soul signal or whatever it's called from the Abyss itself. Which seems to be a recurring topic of the Abyss... It's believed that those lights that Bondrewd had tracking Mittys life etc. Are also perhaps reading the soul wavelength or whatever you want to call it. It's also likely related to how the village/the balancing knows the value of objects it reads the readers soul/thoughts to determine this. Going beyond this you can kind of start to wonder what all this means? Could it also be part of the connection that draws creatures to the Abyss... Like with Riko being born in the Abyss is her soul or wavelength like anchored there. Is the Curse/Blessing in itself not an imagination of all these soul wavelengths? I wonder is it how Mitty and Riko connected when Riko was unconscious back in season 1? And does it even explain some of the nonsense happening to Reg when he lost his memories or became that dark shadow form in the movie... the show hinted at some sort of souls or something almost like possessing him? Or are they memories? Who knows it gets complicated and we would have to have a long conversation to sus it all out.

Hi! Madison here :) I'd say my feeling is more towards disgust. It's one thing to knowingly eat a stew that your captain made, with no further thought as to the meat. Food is food when you're sick and not thinking twice. But to KNOW that what you're eating is this little girl's children? After all the pain she went through, and continues to go through, every day? To know that not only did you eat her dead children, you kill the living children she continues to birth. She cries every day. Experiences heartbreak every day. And she didn't agree to birthing these children for the sake of the village. She wanted to have kids and a family. And he KNOWINGLY fed on her family. In this math, someone has to die. Rather than take the L as an older person, a leader and protector of this little girl, SHE has to take the L. Her KIDS have to take the L. Every single day. On top of which, he's STILL making that choice. Mitty has to suffer every single day, multiple times a day, to satiate him. And that's just fine with him.

Yes I feel for you. Part of me feels exactly the same. It's possible for me to forgive Belaf for all the stuff in the past. Because he did beg to starve to death. He wanted to give himself to Irimuui... sorry I'm butchering that name. Belaf crippled in bed being force feed against his will. Belaf himself still views himself as guilty even for that. And wanted to die. Which kind of humanizes him. He went though a lot and I think most of it was not Belafs fault back then. Yet he still takes responsibility for it. Basically he went insane trying his best not to eat the children... But then he does something similar to Mitty willingly? That's the point where I have to agree with you. It's complicated? Even if we can wash away his past regrets. It's almost like he does not view Mitty as a person? Did Belaf lose his humanity? Not just his form but also mentally too? How much does that forgive him or not for some of his actions? I think there is enough Belaf left that he realizes what he is doing to Mitty is wrong. So yes I've never liked Belaf overall in fact I find him pretty reasonable as a human. I forgive him for all that. But I kinda can't forgive him now as a hollow, for what he did to Mitty etc.

Also something else to quickly say... There is a very strong argument that Nanachi has done worse than Belaf in this series. Yet we kinda give her a pass... We almost forget about it entirely. She lured, tortured and killed kids alongside Bondrewd for months or years? Even after escaping with Mitty it seems like she caused Mitty great suffering trying to experiment with ending Mitty's life and even tortured or prolonged the death of countless Delvers. I know the context, and all that matters. But it's food for thought. lol

So I think the idea behind the child soup (twisted I know) is that Belaf isn't capable of resisting it. As in it probably has a otherworldly allure that can't be resisted due to whatever fuckery the Abyss is up to in granting Irumyuui's wish. I left a comment in the reaction to 7-8 that may lighten the load of the disgust you might be feeling towards Belaf's decision to slurp up Mitty's innards. Belaf simply doesn't appear to be in control of his mental faculties here.

Definitely felt you both getting emotionally exhausted by the end of this :)

Juroimoh is even worse now that you know where his design came from - go back and look at his "sword" - it's a pretty bizarre design as a weapon, but given what he did to Vueko it makes a lot more awful sense why he would be armed with it.

Allweather

What he was and what he did to Vueko got really twisted and misunderstood by Iru as she was a child and didn’t understand the horrors he inflicted
