2:59 "It has my urine, I am marking you." Have you been watching "Shimoneta"? :D (Hilarious anime btw, I recommend it!)

12:40 Japanese speaker here to clarify the Ishigami comment. While it wasn't exactly a mistranslation, it was a way too literal translation. A less literal and more accurate translation of what Chika said was "I always just thought of you as being someone who uses their words to beat me in arguments (rather than support her)" and Ishgami's reply is "Well it's your fault for having such weak arguments" The issue is there is more lewd double entendre mixed in there in Japanese, but the joke doesn't translate over well to English without sounding like just domestic violence. Unfortunately there are a lot of these improper translations in Kaguya because there are a lot of jokes that are very Japanese language/culture specific and hard to translate over properly. Another example was in season 1 with the whole scene about Chika talking about her dogs wiener. So if you ever pickup on anything that sounds a little off or out of character, feel free to ask for clarification because chances are it's a joke or pun that was mistranslated.

@12:40 Almost everyone in the west reacts that way because they have been trained by the media to cherry pick offense out of context. Taken in context with Chika's line "with LOGIC" it should be read as "body" (OF LOGIC). To the more nuanced Japanese ear, the joke lands as intended.

AnimeDateNight

we'll avoid the "trained by the media to cherry pick offense" perspective and keep it to the "mistranslation/excessively literal translation" that SolarPaul outlined below <3 Sounds like the joke was intended to be like "well, youve got an easily beatable body OF WORK" aka the meat of her logic was easily debunked

@16:26 Misandry or misandrist is the proper term. It can apply to both mankind and the male sex.
