I literally knew SKZ even before their debut, back then JYP had to pick getting ITZY or SKZ to debut first, their survival show is so intense and a bit heart-wrenching to watch BUT it was legendary! ❤️‍🔥

he left due to personal reasons, the news were so sudden in the middle of promoting a new comeback. hence the comeback got postponed. they went silent for a whole 2 weeks before coming on chan's weekly live as a group to greet stays again. soon after, they re-record, re-released all their ot9 songs into ot8 versions (at the time 6 albums if im not mistaken).

You’re very selfish for thinking like this tbh, I’m surprised there are people who still think the way you think. Kpop idols shouldn’t have to endure and push through anything if they’re struggling mentally, they’re aloud to take a break and leave if they’re not in a safe mental state. Also, if you remember or not, the song "Stray Kids", has references to these songs. The MV features the bus from District 9. And the lyrics, "Stray Kids still gonna rock on the HELLEVATOR, yeah we head to the top." District 9 and Hellevator were literally the foundation of them. District 9, the debut song. Hellevator, the first mission on their Survival Show, to write and compose their own song, the first song they released to the public as Stray Kids.

The phrasing is kinda … I am perfectly aware of how the members suffered at the time but tbh I don’t think it’s fair to treat him like he was a criminal (sending hate, censoring his name, bullying…) He sure broke his promise to stay with our boys for a very long time but at the end of the day he was still a kid. I’m sure he did what he thought was good for him at that time. Regarding the moment he chose to leave, I think he discussed it with the company first and they helped him decide on what the appropriate moment would be (if not they should’ve). I don’t think he just woke up a morning and said “I’m leaving” (and even if he did, Its okay considering what he was going through and how he was feeling) and like I said he was a kid at the time too so I actually blame their company. I would like to end this by saying that you don’t have to like him or be his fan but openly hating him and blaming him for everything is far too harsh and even cruel. Not just the ot8 were kids at the time, Woojin was a kid too !

District 9 is actually their debut song and Hellevator is a predebut song they released as a mission during their survival program “ Stray Kids ” I love those 3 songs very much but Hellevator will forever hold a special place in my heart. I can’t wait for you guys to react to Levanter (my all time fav) and voices 🤗

omg "Hellevator" is such a core SKZ song. It’s basically about feeling stuck in a dark place (like hell), but pushing through it and slowly rising up (like an elevator). That whole "hell + elevator" thing is the metaphor. They actually wrote it before debut, It’s about struggling through pain, loneliness, and pressure, but still choosing to keep going, so it really captures what they were going through at the time.

Woojin was their main vocalist when they debuted so when he left it put a lot of pressure on the other vocal members (especially Han and Seungmin who had to take over his parts) and they were forced to rerecord all their old songs as well. Fun fact in Hellevator Han sings the high note for the hook everytime since he was the only member who could hit it despite not being the main vocal at the time.

Okay so let me explain the whole Woojin situation real quick, he left Stray Kids super suddenly in late 2019, literally right before their “Levanter” comeback. JYP just dropped a vague statement saying he left for “personal reasons” and that was it, no warning, no real details, nothing. His vocals were even taken out of songs that had already been teased, so it was clearly last minute. It was kind of a crazy time, honestly. They had to delay the release, re-record everything as 8, and just keep going like nothing happened, which is not easy. A lot of groups wouldn’t survive losing a main vocalist out of nowhere like that, especially when they were still rising. There’s still never been an official reason from JYP or Woojin, and a bunch of messy stuff came out later that made it even more controversial. But yeah, in short, it was rough.
