After Salopette's solo action with the water hose, she is doing again with a friend, So White!Yes, I've decided that Salopette and So White are friends! There's a precise reason for that: when I knew about So White, I thought I made a similar thing creating Salopette. I took a stereotype and I turned it into a character. Of course I created Salopette without the same context and the racial prejudice during the years when So White was drawn. Nonetheless I had a bad feeling because I was doing the same drawing Salopette: she's the redneck stereotype; the difference is that I'm only wanted to draw a simple country girl, less sophisticated and with a slightly wild lifestyle and the redneck clothes fitted perfectly on her. Seeing a redneck girl you would have immediately understood her way of life, without further introductions. It's a generalisation, but when you suddenly create a new character and you want to use it immediately, it's the only thing to do.For this reason So White and Salopette have to be friends, they were born for stereotypes, they are both wild country girls and they just want to have fun!
